Owen is one of her trainers. Blue has a lot of respect for Owen so much she would not attack him, even after the I. rex briefly turned her against her human companions.
They are struggled to decide of whether Maisie should return to society in order for her to have a life yet fearing of losing her. Owen is reunited with Blue, who has set up her nest nearby and has now had a daughter, Beta, through asexual reproduction.
As Blue turns back to Owen and the others in fuller view, there is a moment when Owen purposefully shakes his head 'No'. The battle being over, Blues instincts could return to normal, but with his parental figure Owen saying no he realizes they are all family – not food – and runs off as well.
