Thought dead, Darth Maul survived his injuries by focusing on his hatred of Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi who cut him in half. His shattered body was dumped amid the refuse of the junk planet Lotho Minor, where the once deadly warrior fell into madness, staying alive on a diet of vermin.
One source says Park was on set for preproduction and was also involved in stunt training. The source says footage of Park may have been shot, although another source says it could have been test footage. Whatever the case, Park was back as Maul, or so he believed. In the overhaul, however, Maul was written out.
He mortally wounds Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn during the Battle of Naboo before being bisected by Qui-Gon's apprentice, Obi-Wan. Fueled by his hatred, Maul survives and is driven insane over a decade of isolation until his brother, Savage Opress, finds him during the Clone Wars.

What is Darth Maul's real name?
In the now-abandoned Legends continuity, his birth name appeared to be Maul, with the title of "Darth" simply added to it when he was taken on as an apprentice by Darth Sidious.
When he dies in Rebels you see Obi-wan holding the dying body of Maul. This is supposed to represent that he's gone beyond hatred or anger towards Maul, and instead feel pity that it had to end this way.
He had killed his master, Qui-Gon Jinn, for which Obi-Wan got his revenge by slicing the Sith in half. But after Maul took yet another person away from him, Obi-Wan absolutely hated Maul. The Jedi Master almost let his rage and anger get the best of him, growing close to the dark side before he rejected it.
Sidious revealed to Maul that he did not intend to kill his former apprentice, as he still had use for Maul; it was Sidious' hope that Maul would lead the Sith to Mother Talzin, Maul's mother and the leader of the Nightsisters, so she could be eliminated as a potential threat to the eventual Sith rule of the galaxy.
Maul pretty easily had beaten Obi wan and Qui Gon IN A 1v2. He had obi wan defeated but Obi Wan's plot armor made Maul just stand still while Obi wan jumped 20 ft and did 15 flips (evidence for plot armor: Anakin did the same thing in a less difficult circumstance and got sliced).

After a period of tension, Maul strikes first but is quickly countered and defeated by Kenobi. Before Maul dies, Kenobi stays by his side and reveals to him that he is watching over whom he believes is the Chosen One, with Maul's last words being, "He will avenge us". Even though Kylo Ren uses a red lightsaber, harnesses the dark side of the Force, and wears a cape, he is not a Sith. Because of that, he can never hold the title of Darth. Instead, he was just a chaotic mess of the dark side (until he eventually found his way back to the light).
Maul actually was his Sith name. In the Rebels tv series, Maul says to another character that he once had a real name, but he has long since forgotten it. Palpatine took Maul from his mother and gave him his Sith name as an infant. His real name is lost to time.
