In the original story of 101 Dalmatians, Pongo and his mate, Missis, had a litter of fifteen puppies. They were later joined by Perdita, a mother Dalmatian whose puppies had been sold (to Cruella de Vil, although this was not known at the time).
Their parents, Pongo and Perdita, set out to save their puppies from Cruella, in the process rescuing eighty-four additional ones, bringing the total of Dalmatians to one hundred and one.
Perdita is the deuteragonist of the 1961 Disney animated feature film One Hundred and One Dalmatians. She is the pet of Anita, mate of Pongo and the birth mother of 15 Dalmatian puppies as well as the adoptive mother of 84 more Dalmatian puppies.
There's Dodie Smith's 1956 children's novel that 101 Dalmatians is based on, as well as the real-life women that the creative team behind the 1961 movie were inspired by when developing the character.

Why is Cruella obsessed with Dalmatians?
In 101 Dalmatians, Cruella wanted to purchase Perdita and Pongo's Dalmatian puppies because she was a selfish heiress who viewed the puppies as a fashionable commodity to be exploited rather than as innocent living beings.
Cruella is the main antagonist of the 101 Dalmatians animated series, voiced by April Winchell in the majority of the episodes, and Tress MacNeille in the episodes "Fungus Among Us" and "Close But No Cigar".

However, One Hundred and One Dalmatians contains references to animal cruelty, slapstick violence, and one of Disney's scariest and most iconic villains. It's therefore not suitable for children under 4 years and we recommend parental guidance for children aged 4-5 and/or a sensitive audience.
Lucky is one of Pongo and Perdita's fifteen puppies. He is the puppy who nearly dies soon after his birth in both the animated and live-action films but was revived through the efforts of Roger Radcliffe.
