It all ended with the demise of both Palpatine and his cult, which effectively marked the total felling of the Sith. The Final Order's fleet and the First Order's occupying forces were also destroyed across the galaxy by a major civil uprising and the Resistance's allies.
Without the support of the Sith fleet to reinforce them, an uprising against the rule of First Order erupted on many worlds across the galaxy, causing the First Order's hold to fade as people gathered the will to rise up.
The First Order is a remnant born of a war thirty years gone. Yes, they persist, yes, they continue, but by all accounts they do so barely. They are, at best, an ill-organized, poorly equipped, and badly funded group of loyalists who use propaganda and fear to inflate their strength and their importance.
As a result of its defeat, the Empire became a rump state and its military was dismantled by the Galactic Concordance. Choosing to ignore the stipulations of the Galactic Concordance, some united remnants of the Empire refused to yield, culminating in a Cold War between the New Republic and the Imperial remnant.

With help from Ben and the spirits of past Jedi, Rey finally destroys Palpatine. The galaxy rises up against the First Order, ultimately destroying it after 14 years of existing and ending a grand total of 54 years of Imperial rule.
Palpatine Prepared for the Rise of the First Order Before Founding the Empire. Palpatine's plans for the First Order actually began when he was still Supreme Chancellor of the Republic. This was before he had created the Empire and even before the outbreak of the Clone Wars.

The one who ultimately put an end to Emperor Palpatine's reign was none other than Darth Vader himself. Yep, Anakin Skywalker, the chosen one, had a major role to play in this epic showdown. You see, Emperor Palpatine was a master manipulator, and he had Vader under his dark side grip for a long time.
In the context of the story, Snoke is a "genetic strandcast" created by Emperor Palpatine to serve as his proxy in power. Snoke, whom Abrams called "a powerful figure on the dark side of the Force", was introduced as the leader of the First Order and master to the sequel trilogy's main villain, Kylo Ren.
He helps Finn, Poe and Chewbacca escape Ren's Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Steadfast and has Finn shoot him in the leg so he can feign an effort to stop them. However, he is shot in the chest with a blaster by Pryde after the latter realizes Hux's treason through his cover story.

Some clones disobeyed the infamous order than decimated the Jedi order, and refused to execute it. SOME of these Clones include; Captain Rex: Captain Rex, as most know removed his chip that would later be the way that Palpatine would execute order 66. Wolffe: As with Captain Rex Wolffe removed his bio chip.
Vader did not hunt for Yoda in any cinematic depiction. He and Sidious could not find Yoda as he had exiled himself on the planet Dagobah which had strong dark side energy that masked Yoda's presence in the Force.
But this is actually a very sad reason because it actually had the opposite effect, and he deeply regretted his decision to kill his father and it haunted him for the rest of the trilogy. Also, Han was telling him that Snoke was using him, but one of the reasons he killed him was to impress Snoke.
