There were scenes filmed in Puerto Rico meant to reflect Cap-Haïtien, a northern coast in Haiti, and of Haitians speaking their native tongue, Haitian Creole. Speaking creole instead of French meant a lot to me, that was the language of our colonizers.
Regardless, Toussaint's military prowess and intelligence was what freed the enslaved people of Saint-Domingue, making Haiti the first slave-free nation to be governed by former slaves in the Americas in 1804. This is the reason why Haiti, as even a small backdrop in the film, supports the movie's overall theme.

Why was Nakia in Haiti?
Nakia explained to Shuri that she and T'Challa had agreed it was better for him to grow up in Haiti, away from the pressure of being Wakanda's king. She also revealed that he had prepared them for his death, and told them not to come to his funeral.
After Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri's mother, dies, she finally accepts her destiny as the Black Panther and saves Wakanda from the threat of Namor's invasion. In the final scene of the movie, we see Shuri go to Haiti to meet up with Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o), T'Challa's lover before his death.
It was then in Puerto Rico, and more precisely at the former Ritz Carlton hotel-casino in San Juan, that the teams of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever set up their lights and cameras.
While in Haiti, Nakia introduces Shuri, Wakanda's newest Black Panther, to T'Challa's secret son. During a conversation with his aunt, the boy calls himself Toussaint before revealing he has a secret. Toussaint is his Haitian name, but his true name -- his Wakandan name -- is T'Challa.

Director Ryan Coogler stated that his depiction of Wakanda in the 2018 film Black Panther was inspired by the Southern African Kingdom of Lesotho. In recent stories by writer Ta-Nehisi Coates, Wakanda is located on Lake Victoria, near fellow fictional nations Mohannda, Canaan, Azania, and Niganda.
As it currently stands, there is no Black Panther 3 release date, since Marvel is yet to officially confirm the sequel. Assuming that does happen, then the sequel is still likely a few years off.
