Gale and Katniss did not see each alone until a few weeks after the end of the Hunger Games, at their meeting place in the woods. They shared an emotional reunion.
In the end, Katniss and Gale grew apart, as many childhood friends and young loves do. She needed something different in her life, and with Gale's link to Primrose's death, Katniss found a reason to cut ties. If Katniss ever wanted to find comfort again, she knew she had to return to Peeta for the long term.
At the end of Mockingjay, Gale relocates to District 2 and begins working in the district's government. He helps train replacements for the Capitol's Peacekeepers. By this point, he knows that he and Katniss will never be together.

Who does Gale end up marrying?
Answer and Explanation: Gale does not marry anyone in The Hunger Games. He and Katniss talk about running away together and starting a new life in the wilderness, but they never officially marry.
The relationship between Gale and Prim takes a morbid turn when the bomb that killed Prim resembles the ones Gale designed, raising suspicions of his involvement. Gale's potential romance with Prim's sister, Katniss, is ultimately severed as she cannot reconcile his ruthlessness and his potential role in Prim's death.
Katniss was sickened to think of all the people that Gale sentenced to death, and she chose to stop the rebels from firing on them immediately. Katniss' dislike of Gale's plan demonstrates that she does not agree with his lust for violence, and viewers see that Gale has a vicious streak.
He did, technically, at least have a hand in it. But it wasn't intentional. Throughout the last book, Katniss is bothered that Gale seems to be getting closer to Coin and the district 13 higher ups. He also helped engineer the bombs that ended up killing Prim during the final battle.
And while Gale certainly didn't intend for Prim to die (sending her onto the battlefield at all was Coin's choice alone, and a deliberate move to put her in harm's way, regardless of who pulled the trigger), the loss of innocent life was a core element of Gale's strategy when designing the bombs.
The fact that his bombs killed Prim is very important to the story, but not as a way to resolve the love triangle (bc Katniss would have chosen Peeta, bombs or no bombs but that's for a different analysis). Gale making the bombs that killed Prim is important because it shows the horrors of war.
Although he and Katniss care about each other, Gale's cruelty in his quest for vengeance causes discord between them. He does not reconcile with Katniss after she kills President Coin, likely because of the shame of possibly playing a part in the death of Prim, whom he promised to protect.
In the book, Katniss learns from Greasy Sae that Gale has moved on to live in District 2, where he's gotten "some fancy job there." (In the movies, we learn that he becomes a military captain.)
While there's some chemistry between the two throughout the series, nothing ever comes of the tension in Suzanne Collins's novels. Beyond the kiss, nothing happened between the two in the movies either.
Katniss saw that Coin was already showing signs of being as ruthless as Snow, which could be dangerous for the future of Panem. Coin was willing to sacrifice children to turn the Capitol against Snow and make herself look like the hero who swooped in to save Panem.
Ultimately, in Mockingjay, it was undeniable that Katniss was completely in love with Peeta. Even though both Gale and Peeta are great men who wanted the best for Katniss, there's no doubt Peeta was kinder, and more loyal and understanding. These qualities made Peeta way better as a character and as a love interest.
She was only 13 years old when she was killed in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, and her youth only makes the tragedy that much harder for Katniss to bear after everything else she had suffered. Prim's death is a truly heartbreaking moment.
Katniss's focus on survival and her family's safety prevented her from fully considering romance, but her feelings for Peeta and Gale diverged in the end. Katniss ultimately chose Peeta because he understood her trauma and she didn't want to lose him, proving her love for him.

Peeta asks, “You love me. Real or not real?” Katniss says, “Real.” They hold hands and sleep, embracing their love. In the future, Peeta plays with a little boy in the meadow while Katniss holds their newborn in her arms. When the baby wakes, Katniss asks if she had a nightmare, saying she has nightmares too.
Summary. Gale represented the violence and revenge that Katniss wanted to leave behind, making her choose Peeta instead. Peeta and Katniss's shared trauma brought them together and allowed them to understand and support each other.
Katniss's mother, who chose not to return to District 12 because of all the painful memories of her deceased husband and daughter, decides to work in District 4 as medical personnel. Gale got a "fancy job" in District 2 and is seen regularly on television. Annie, Finnick's wife, has their son.
The two don't have sex on screen. It's only implied that they get it on via snuggling and other affectionate acts in close quarters — but if you have read the book, they really imply that they took their relationship to the next level. Plus, in the epilogue, they have two kids.
Before Katniss can reach her and bring her to safety, the second wave of bombs explodes, killing Prim and other medics and badly burning Katniss. Prim's last words were, "Katniss." Katniss becomes so unhinged after Prim's death that she loses her voice for several days.
#CapCut Haymitch knew Katniss was planning something, she would never have voted for a symbolic Hunger Games and especially not for Prim. As soon as she did, he knew she was up to something and trusted her.
President Coin's manipulative tactics enabled her to take power in Panem, but she was even worse than President Snow. Coin's black-and-white thinking led her to condemn anyone associated with the Capitol, including Peeta.
