It's never specifically stated but our best guess is that Janet simply felt guilty about choosing her family over all of the people she left subjugated to Kang in the Quantum Realm. If she actually acknowledged it, that would've meant having to deal with it, and she just wanted to ignore it.

Why didn't Scott see anything in the quantum realm?
Although it might seem that Ant-Man could have found Kang in the Quantum Realm during Avengers: Endgame, it is important to remember that Scott Lang thought he was trapped for only five hours. Since time works differently in the Quantum Realm, Ant-Man really did not have enough time to find Kang when he was stuck.
As explained in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Ava Starr gained phasing abilities after her father's Quantum Tunnel exploded, causing her to become intangible for brief periods. Her powers cause her extreme pain and eventually, they will tear her apart.
