After Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore: Movie Magic was released, it was confirmed in the book that Credence's phoenix was indeed not Fawkes.
Following Dumbledore's death, Fawkes sang his Lament over the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and then flew away, never to be seen again. His tail feathers were the cores of the two twin wands which were held by Lord Voldemort and Harry Potter.

Fantastic Beasts 3 finally shed light on the Credence being Aurelius Dumbledore plot twist.
Grindelwald had claimed the phoenix's presence around Credence proved he was a Dumbledore, but it seems he was telling a half-truth, because in reality the phoenix kept returning to Credence because they are drawn to provide strength and comfort for those who are dying.
It is unknown as to how Dumbledore and Fawkes met, though it is known to be before 1938, but whatever the case, Fawkes lived with and faithfully served famed wizard, Albus Dumbledore for at least 58 years.

Is Fawkes the phoenix with Credence?
It's likely Fawkes didn't enter Dumbledore's life until after the events of Fantastic Beasts 3. What's more, the book Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore: Movie Magic confirms Fawkes is not Credence's phoenix at all.
Once Dumbledore is killed by Snape during the Battle of the Astronomy Tower, Fawkes decides he no longer has any reason to remain at Hogwarts. With his master dead, Fawkes flew off into the distance, never to return to Hogwarts or the story.
Aberforth's son is Aurelius Dumbledore, born after he fell in love with a girl in Godric's Hollow. However, the girl was sent away, either before or after Aurelius's birth. His son was adopted by Mary Lou Barebone and renamed Credence Barebone. Despite the rumors, Aberforth never confided in Albus about his son.
Losing Aurelius would be too painful for Aberforth to bring him up ever again, and Albus has been known to discuss very few personal matters with the Harry Potter characters. It thus makes sense that Credence is never mentioned in Harry Potter: he is the Dumbledores' guilty secret.
His mother is killed, and as a result Aberforth is unable to care for his son. Credence is taken to America and put up for adoption, a fact known to no one but Leta Lestrange (Zoe Kravitz).
Voldemort was Tom Riddle and Dumbledore met Tom as a child. Riddle also attended Hogwarts. Riddle was also a Jr to his father, Tom Riddle Sr. Nothing lines up with Credence being Tom.
In the end, Credence/Aurelius returns to the light, taking sides with his family, rather than Grindelwald. The action has reverberating consequences, as Grindelwald tries to kill Credence, but Dumbledore protects him — breaking their blood pact.
Because once Dumbledore died, Fawkes left the castle. Dumbledore was the only thing tying him there essentially, so without him he was free to go. That's why he didn't come back to save Snape.
Although he wasn't turned into a werewolf, he did develop some wolfish tendencies such as a liking for very rare steaks. He married Fleur on 1 August 1997, although their wedding was disrupted by the arrival of Death Eaters following the fall of the Ministry of Magic.
Hedwig's killer is not explicitly identified, so he/she may have appeared in other books, films or video games, but the only known appearance is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. Aberforth met Credence's mother the same summer that Albus and Grindelwald met. Now, while living as part of Grindelwald's followers, Credence began to write messages to Aberforth through a mirror because he was desperate to come home – though to begin with, he didn't know he was writing to his father.
Harry asked for help while looking at a two-way mirror; Aberforth had the other mirror. He sent Dobby to rescue them; the house-elf did so, stating that "he would always be there for Harry Potter", but was killed by Bellatrix Lestrange.
Fantastic Beasts 3 reveals that Credence is Aberforth Dumbledore's illegitimate son. Since Grindelwald was telling Credence the truth about his name being Aurelius Dumbledore, it seemed logical that he's one of Albus Dumbledore's siblings.
Dumbledore knew a lot about magic, including dark magic, enough to know not to use it, especially for such a purpose as to preserve your soul or get rid of a part of it due to guilt. In the end, Harry Potter fans will believe whatever they want, but Fawkes was definitely not Dumbledore's horcrux.
Several years later, however, Hermione was forced to alter her parents' memories and give them new identities as Wendell and Monica Wilkins, to protect them from the Death Eaters. After the Second Wizarding War ended, Hermione found Mr Granger and his wife in Australia and returned their memories.
Following Albus Dumbledore's death, Professor McGonagall took over as the Headmistress of Hogwarts. She remained at Hogwarts after Lord Voldemort took over and appointed Severus Snape as the acting Headmaster.
