Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds is set to make over €280 million after the sale of Mint Mobile. The Canadian actor sold his stake in the prepaid budget wireless provider to telecoms operator T-Mobile as part of a larger cash-and-stock deal, worth as much as €1.26 billion.
In 2021, Reynolds was among several celebrities to invest in Canadian startup Wealthsimple. He and other Marvel movie stars (incidentally) invested in 1Password earlier this year. Reynolds also co-owns Wrexham A.F.C., a football club in Wales, with 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' actor Rob McElhenney.

Is there a downside to Mint Mobile?
Because it's an MVNO, Mint can suffer from deprioritization, which means users will see their service slow down if the network becomes too congested. This limit doesn't stop Mint Mobile from being a good service plan, though.
Network performance: Mint and T-Mobile are on the same network, meaning their coverage range is identical. But when it comes to data speeds and performance, Mint customers may have a worse experience than those who pay for T-Mobile's high-end plans.

Founded in 2016, Mint Mobile functions as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). It runs on T-Mobile's cellular network, which means it uses T-Mobile's network but isn't owned by the company.
