The Rotten Tomatoes-approved Alone keeps things slightly ambitious, but while the ending doesn't show the helicopter arriving, the sound of its rotors are heard offscreen as Jess looks toward the sky. This means Jessica survived her ordeal in Alone, with the helicopter taking her to safety soon after.
She overhears him speaking to his wife on the phone, lying about where he is and that he'll be back soon. When he searches for Jessica, she escapes the cabin, and he pursues her. The man catches up with Jessica after she badly injures her foot, and she jumps into a rapid flowing river to escape.
Sam kidnaps Jessica and takes her to his isolated cabin, but thanks to some quick thinking, she's able to escape into the woods. Sam proves almost impossible to shake because no matter how many times Jess tries to get away, he is always two steps ahead.
However, while Alone's protagonist, Jessica, gives viewers a reason for remaining engaged throughout, it is the movie's villain that steals the show. Played by Marc Menchaca, the mysterious psychopath eventually identified as Sam is a menacing, relentless presence throughout the movie.
