Halle's Ariel still has the iconic red hair, but instead of wearing it straight, she sports locs. The actress has now opened up about how it felt to include that feature as part of Ariel's identity.

Halle's Little Mermaid hairstylist, Camille Friend, made sure to keep Halle's natural locs (per her request) for the role of Ariel. She ended up wrapping red hair around her over 24-inch natural locs. The hair wrapping took over 12 hours and was completed multiple times during filming.
