… Plane is a straight-up, no-nonsense, gritty action flick that delivers plentiful thrills and spills… Gerard Butler has that Nicolas Cage thing of not phoning in a performance, he's so magnetic in these movies. If you like well-made action flicks that don't need a sequel setup, it's money well spent.

Brodie successfully saves the day by leading a raid to free the passengers, repairing the damaged plane, and landing safely with the help of rescue forces. A potential sequel is hinted at as Louis flees with a bag of cash.
The controversy stems from scenes in the movie taking place in Jolo island, southwestern Philippines, where a plane carrying the protagonists crashes and they find themselves in a territory under the control of insurgent militia with no signs of the Philippine Army or government institutions.
Unfortunately Planes is also one of those films where it starts slowly and unpromising and never really takes off, sorry couldn't resist. The story just doesn't have any spark, the storytelling is predictable and lazy and the pacing sedate.
Plane is rated R by the MPAA for violence and language. Violence: Two people are killed in an airplane accident. People are repeatedly shot and stabbed. A man is beheaded with a machete.
While Louis' run seems like the actions of a guilty man, there is plenty of evidence to vouch for his character. Although Louis initially runs away after the plane crashes, leaving Brodie to rescue the hostages on his own, Louis returns to help Brodie, sacrificing a key chance for him to run free.
WILL PLANE BE ON NETFLIX? While Plane could potentially come to Netflix in the future, there has been no announcement about any plans for it to join the streaming giant following its theatrical run. In the meantime, you'll just have to head out to a movie theater or wait for it to become available on digital.
