There have been a number of instances throughout Marvel Comics where the Thing and the Hulk have fought with both of them winning for different reasons, however, the Hulk has proven time and again that he is much stronger than the Thing under normal circumstances.
Despite being an unstoppable force, powerful beings like Namor, Wolverine, Iron Man, and Deadpool have managed to outsmart and defeat the Hulk. From fellow superheroes to average soldiers, various characters, including Hawkeye and even Batman, have successfully taken down the Hulk.
In general the Hulk is stronger than the Thing. The Hulk's calm level of strength is comparable to the Thing's, but the madder the Hulk gets the stronger he gets.
Doesn't matter how strong he gets, doesn't matter how angry he gets, Hulk simply will not be able to smash it. Some people might say Bruce Banner is that thing. This is untrue.
With only seconds left until he lost his strength, Thing put everything he had into a final punch. His vibranium wedding ring further fueled the hit, which shattered Thing's arm. The punch knocked Hulk out, and Thing recovered after missing his week as a human.
5 The Thing And The Hulk Have Fought Too Many Times
The Thing is also one of the mouthier fighters around, constantly mocking his foes, which definitely didn't make the Hulk like him very much. The feeling is mutual between the two, as the Thing has taken too many beatings from the Hulk to ever not hate him.
It was one of the more epic Marvel events in recent memory. And with this issue showing that Hulk, when mad enough, can take down an actual god, it's no wonder that MCU Loki was so scared when he saw the not-so-jolly- green giant show up in Ragnarok.
The Thing's big turning point came during Tom DeFalco and Paul Ryan's Fantastic Four run. During a fight in Fantastic Four #374, Wolverine cut the Thing's face with his adamantium claws, leaving a nasty scar.
Even at his most powerful World Breaker Hulk version Odin absolutely destroys. Hulk is ridiculously durable and can regenerate most physical damage but is still mortal, he can die.
The two brawlers have fought beyond these two encounters, but these two fights establish a few hard facts: the Hulk can be overpowered by the Juggernaut; the Hulk cannot consistently stop the Juggernaut; and most importantly, the Hulk's strength, even at maximum, cannot harm the Juggernaut at his maximum power.
Thanos and Hulk have clashed several times in Marvel lore, with Thanos even admitting he was scared to face the Hulk before acquiring the Infinity Stones. While Thanos is usually the victor, it's generally down to him using superior tactics and technology, rather than simply possessing greater physical strength.
Even in the few times he's faced Superman, the green monster has lost. It's no fault of the Hulk's, but Superman is called Superman for a reason. Unless he had kryptonite or a magic-user by his side, Hulk would usually fall to the DC Hero - although, he'd put up a hell of a fight. Superman wins.
Just because the Thing can't beat the Hulk when Hulk is at his normal level of strength doesn't mean he could never or has never beaten a weaker version of him. The clearest example of the Thing's brutal victory over the Hulk was when the two fought in Fantastic Four #13 by Dan Slott and Sean Izaakse.
He dug deep into Hulk's psyche and found the one person Hulk feared most -- Brian Banner. This was when the comics revealed the truth about Brian Banner's trial. He bullied Bruce into testifying for him at Rebecca's murder trial, and Bruce betrayed the memory of his mother by allowing his father to get off easy.
Because he controls himself. He does the comic book thing of restraining his strength so that the impact of his attacks seem lesser than what they might otherwise be.
His adamantium claws are one of the few weapons in the Marvel Universe that can consistently pierce Hulk's skin and Wolverine has no problem going for Hulk's head. In fact, if it came down to it, Wolverine could cut Hulk's head off, ending the Hulk once and for all.
Hyperion was an Avenger during one of the Hulk's stints on the team, so he knows what he's dealing with. He isn't going to mess around; he'll go all out right off the bat. With powers like his, he'll be able to knock out the Hulk before he can get too strong to handle.
Spider-Man Can Take Hulk's Hits (And Deal Just as Much Damage) If Spider-Man can survive a blast from a cannon designed to take out the Incredible Hulk, and his super-durable genetic makeup, it's logical to assume he has similar durability (broken ribs notwithstanding, though they heal fast).
To date, the Hulk has never actually beaten Sentry in a proper one on one match. But Bruce Banner has. Hulk and Sentry ended up drained after a brutal fight, leaving their human alter egos to duke it out. Bruce Banner ended up taking down Sentry after he turned back into Robert.
