However, the evil that had been nurtured into him by Morgoth, and later Sauron, had taken root and left its mark on him. Despite being disgusted by the vile deeds these two oppressors committed against his "children", Adar himself displayed similar cruelty and ruthlessness towards those he wished to subdue.
Because of his age, Adar would have had a prominent place in Morgoth's army, but he was still subservient to Sauron. So, when Sauron took over, Adar became his servant until Sauron started to experiment on Orcs. Because they were his children, Adar rebelled, and to his knowledge, they killed Sauron.
Turns out, Adar was one of the first orcs ever created — explaining why the orcs call him "father" in Sindarin. As Galadriel explains, in the First Age, the Dark Lord Morgoth captured and tortured elves, turning them into twisted, ruined creatures that would later become the orcs as we know them.
Adar talks about Sauron's experimentation with his orcs in his quest for power and then reveals how the mistreatment of his children led him to split Sauron open, killing him to save the rest of the Uruk.
Although it is clear Adar has no real concern for the other inhabitants of Middle-earth and never hesitates to capture or kill them for his aims, Adar's mission is not simply to do evil. Nor does he share the hunger of his one-time commanders, but also captors, to conquer Middle-earth and bend it to his whims.

Did Adar think he killed Sauron?
Adar, therefore, seems to honestly believe he killed the Dark Lord. He's almost certainly mistaken. Sauron is one of the Maiar - angelic and immortal spirits from the beginning of time. Since the Maiar are divine, primordial beings, they don't die in the traditional sense.
The orcs are all Adar's offspring, and he cares for them, just as he is the only figure orcs truly care for in all of Tolkien's Middle-earth. The use of the word “Father” when it comes to Adar thus feels more emotional than just a factual title.
According to Galadriel, when the Elves first awoke at the beginning of the First Age, Adar was possibly one of many of them who were taken by Morgoth. He was tortured and twisted, becoming one of the first Orcs, a new and ruinous form of life.
Now we know that Adar is literally the orcs' father on The Rings of Power. So it thus makes sense that the elves call him “Adar.” In Sindarin Elvish, “Adar” is the word for “father.” (The Sindar spoke their own version of Elvish because they never made it to the land of the Valar like other elves.
Adar is an elf who was manipulated with evil magic. He served under Morgoth and claims that he killed Sauron. He does not seem to recognize Halbrand as Sauron, and yet he carries out what we can assume is his master's evil bidding by setting in motion the events that burn the Southlands and create Mordor.
It was assumed by Galadriel that Adar was one of the Moriondor, the first Elves to be corrupted by Morgoth during the Years of the Trees in Utumno. Subsequent generations of the newly realized race of Orcs considered him to be their "father", and followed him willingly.
If Adar was an Elf captured by Morgoth, he must've been one of the earliest Elves to awaken in Middle-earth. As the Enemy's prisoner, Adar and his fellow captives would've been tortured, twisted and corrupted into the very first Orcs - the Moriondor.
The Elven identity of Adar also appears to rule him out as one of the Nazgul (or Ringwraiths) who go on to follow Sauron in the Lord of the Rings saga, as these were Kings of Men. Some had wondered if Adar would be the Witch-King of Angmar, but his Elven ears make this less likely.
Adar revealed his entire story to Galadriel, and what he told her will change her mission in the Second Age. Adar is an original Orc, and he served Morgoth and Sauron. His life has been one of darkness, but his attack on the Southlands is a desperate attempt to create a home for his offspring.
While riding, Halbrand seized a spear from a corpse, and maneuvering through through the forest, he ended up riding towards where Adar was heading. Useing the spear to trip the horse, Halbrand dismounted Adar, who attempted to provoke him into killing him. Halbrand was only just prevented from doing so by Galadriel.
Although it's possible Adar is a weakened version of Sauron who hasn't yet recovered his full power, Joseph Mawle's character is more likely a follower of the Dark Lord than the man himself. The Rings of Power's scene between Adar and Arondir actually leans more toward the villain being a fallen elf.
"Adar" was a pure Orc (in fact, they prefer "Uruk") warlord who acted as the "Lord-father" of sizable legions in the Mordor in the Second Age. A cruel leader, and yet at times seemingly symphatetic, he was treated with worship-like deference by his "progeny".
The origin(s) of orcs were explained two different ways (i.e., inconsistently) by Tolkien: the orcs were either East Elves (Avari) enslaved, tortured, and bred by Morgoth (as Melkor became known), or, "perhaps ... Avari [(a race of elves)] ... [turned] evil and savage in the wild", both according to The Silmarillion.
When Galadriel calls Adar's kind — captured Elves tortured and twisted into becoming Morgoth's evil minions — “Moriondor,” which translates to “sons of the dark” in Elvish, Adar says he prefers the term “Uruk,” which is the word for “Orc” in the Black Speech of Mordor.

This left Elrond with two difficult choices: break his oath to Durin and betray his friend, or save his people from extinction. But the good-hearted elf found another way. He came clean to Durin about why the elves needed mithril, and Durin agreed to try and convince his father to help them.
Maeglin's father, Eöl, forged it first as Anglachel, but its final resting place remained above the seas at the end of the First Age on Tol Morwen. Thus, to recap: Adar is not actually Galadriel's bro, that's a rouse. Adar is simply a title for the Unwilling Elf, Maeglin.
Galadriel's relationship with Halbrand, revealed to be Sauron in The Rings of Power's Season 1 finale, was bizarre, to say the least. The two displayed some mild sexual tension throughout the season, causing some Lord of the Rings fans to "ship" the powerful Elf and Dark Lord.
Summary. Actor Joseph Mawle exited The Rings of Power to pursue new roles, and the character Adar was recast for season 2. Sam Hazeldine is taking over as Adar, and his experience in major fantasy series is reassuring for his success.
