During the Battle of Yavin, however, when Vader almost succeeds in killing Luke - Han saved him - after this Leia's opinion of Han changed - and they slowly fell in love with each other. Han and Leia developed a relationship that would last throughout the war.
Ever since Return of the Jedi, Star Wars has reframed Luke and Leia's kiss as lacking real romantic intent - something Leia did solely to get a rise out of her real love interest, Han Solo.

Why did Han and Leia divorce?
They aren't cut out for long-term commitment, and the issue of losing their son to the dark side understandably puts a strain on their relationship. Han and Leia drift apart over the years and eventually break up.
“Why, you stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder!” This is arguably Princess Leia's most memorable diss, aimed at Han Solo in the Rebel base on Hoth.
Lady Qi'ra was a human female crime lord from the planet Corellia who lived during the reign of the Galactic Empire. She grew up on the streets along with Han as part of the White Worms. Though they were at first rivals, the two scrumrats eventually became lovers.
The moment is even more special because it was unplanned. The script had Han's response be "I love you, too," but neither director Irvin Kershner nor Harrison Ford liked that, and neither thought Han was there yet.

Al Pacino said he turned down "so much money" to appear in "Star Wars." "The Godfather" star was offered the role of Han Solo in 1977's "A New Hope." He joked that by declining the role he "gave Harrison Ford a career."
In 34 ABY, the figure would have been 66 years old based on his birthdate. Sadly, Han wouldn't go on to reach his seventies, since his own son, Kylo Ren, kills him during the first installment of the sequel trilogy.
Ford eventually signed on for the entire trilogy, but his skepticism about his character lingered. He considered Han one-note and flat: ultimately a supporting figure in Luke Skywalker's story rather than a three-dimensional figure of his own. Han Solo's death in The Force Awakens (2015) came about when writer/director J. J. Abrams felt the character was not evolving or contributing to the story's development; he believed that Kylo Ren killing his own father would give him a chance to develop into a worthy successor for Darth Vader.
Kylo Ren dies on Kef Bir (the ocean moon of Endor) shortly after Rey deals a mortal wound during a lightsaber duel on the wreckage of the second Death Star. Though Rey Force-heals him, saving his life physically, this blow, coupled with the memory of his mother and father, destroys the man known as “Kylo Ren” forever.
Yoda cryptically responded, "No, there is another." While some fans would make careers out of writing possible futures for these characters years later, many sitting in the theaters at that time had no idea what that quote implied. Now, fans know that Yoda was referring to Leia Organa.
Anticipating Solo's arrival, Darth Vader and Boba Fett had already forced Lando to betray Han and Princess Leia. Lando agreed to turn Han over in return for a guarantee that the Empire would leave Cloud City alone.
As Leia tells the story, it becomes clear that it is Han's undying devotion to the causes he champions that Leia fell in love with. She explains that his willingness to risk his life saving a place that he hates made his light shine through even the gruffest exterior.
