The film follows two friends, Becky (played by Grace Caroline Currey) and Hunter (played by Virginia Gardner), as they fight to survive after they become trapped 2,000 feet in the air from climbing an abandoned radio tower in the desert.
The next day, Hunter and Becky arrive and successfully climb a severely corroded ladder to a tiny platform at the top of the tower, where Becky scatters Dan's ashes.
The biggest thing that played out in the twist at the Fall movie ending was that Becky was on her own for much of the time. She never realized that Hunter had died, and she hallucinated the entire discussions and planning with her friend. Hunter's death happened after she fell to the platform below and bled out.
Luckily, Becky didn't have to experience seeing her die, as she did Dan in the movie Fall's opening act. Becky eventually pulled up the bag, as well as Hunter. With Hunter now injured, Becky then scaled to the top, where the beacon light was, rigged a charge using her wedding band, and got back down.
Was Becky hallucinating in Fall? Yes, Becky was hallucinating the final part of Hunter's presence after she had retrieved the backpack. Hunter's body is shown dead on the lower platform after the backpack sequence, but she later reappears next to Becky.
Luckily, Fall is entirely a piece of fiction that isn't based a specific true story. Even from Fall's first trailer it was clear that the movie was an exaggerated tale.
But like 47 Meters Down (or Adrift or a certain cut of The Descent), this thriller secretly switches into the unreal. Hunter did not survive that climb. She fell on that disc-shaped antenna and died.
Becky sends a message to her father on her phone, then she pops the phone into Hunter's remaining shoe which she then shoves inside of Hunter through a gaping wound. With the phone now suitably padded, she pushes Hunter's body off the tower and the message successfully gets through to her father.
The 2000 ft B67 TV Tower that Becky and Hunter climb is a real television tower. According to the director, the film was based on the KXTV/KOVR radio tower that is also known as the Sacramento Joint Venture Tower.
Genre filmmakers Michael and Peter Spierig (Lionsgate's “Jigsaw”) are set to direct “Fall 2,” the second installment in the “Fall” franchise. Scott Mann, who directed and co-wrote the first film, is returning to co-write with Jonathan Frank.
While the story isn't true, the tower at the centre of it — the decommissioned B67 TV Tower — is based on a real-life tower: the KXTV Tower in California, one of the tallest structures in the world.

This heartbreaking incident claimed the lives of two young individuals, 23-year-old Becky and 25-year-old Hunter, who tragically fell while attempting to climb the towering 2,049-foot (625 m) guyed mast.
It was shot outside Palmdale, California, with Tea Shop erecting a 20 ft tower on a 100 ft hill to provide a false perspective while the rest was achieved in post-production. Despite being one of the first films to get rolling during the pandemic, Covid-19 was not always the biggest problem.
So watching the film Fall, about two female climbers getting stuck on a 2,000 foot high tower, I expected to experience some white-knuckle thrills. While I found there to be a few tense moments in Fall, I was more bored than scared. Not good since I should have been an easy target for the film's tricks.
Fall is all about making the suffering look real, the make-up and effects solid as the girls gradually look dehydrated, exhausted and exposed to the element. It adds that suspense and experience effect, really selling to me just how miserable something like this would be if it happened.
The episode ends with DS Gibson returning to her home and standing alone in her kitchen with a glass of wine – a rather unsatisfying end to the case she had dedicated so much time to.
As the night falls, Becky notices a tattoo on Hunter's ankle: "1-4-3," a numeric code Dan used to tell Becky that he loved her. Hunter tearfully admits to a four-month affair that ended shortly before Becky and Dan's wedding, but Becky is unmoved by her apologies.
Sometime later, Becky suddenly notices a tattoo on Hunter's ankle which reads 1-4-3 – the same sequence she had used to tell her late husband Dan that she loved him. After being questioned, Hunter admits that she had had an affair with Dan which lasted for four months, and Becky is understandably distraught.
Mann said during an interview this week that the vultures that played a chilling role in the movie were real and not spliced into a scene. He also said he believed Fall would be a success due to most individuals' fear of heights and the success of a YouTube video of a tower climber changing out a lightbulb.
Paul Spector is identified as the killer in The Fall from the very start. A father, husband and respected professional, he presents an outward appearance of normality. Below the surface, he is a sadistic, sexually-motivated killer.
Fall was filmed in California, specifically the Shadow Mountains in the Mojave Desert, Los Angeles County, and Lancaster city. Speaking to Radio Times about finding the perfect filming location, director Scott Mann spoke about scouring California for the right spot.
Becky pushes Hunter's body off the satellite so the message can go out. James is then seen driving toward the tower, where he finds a whole team of authorities at the scene. He finds them taking Hunter's body, which he fears is Becky until he finds that Becky has already been rescued and brought down safely.
By the ending of Fall it's revealed that Becky is hallucinating, and that Hunter is dead for most of the movie — after her fall, she does not catch the backpack and climb back up.
