The final moments of The Maze Runner's ending revolve around a group of masked and armed soldiers as they rush into the lab and escort the Gladers out.They emerge on the sandy dunes that surround the maze and lab and are taken away on a helicopter.
It is eventually revealed that Thomas' blood contains a unique enzyme that can destroy the Flare virus [2]. In "The Death Cure" film, Teresa, one of the main characters, uses a small fragment of Thomas' blood and observes under a microscope that it snaps a dark-red vein with the virus in it, effectively killing it [2].
Jeff, being the only living Med-Jack, attacked the Griever, giving Minho enough time to stand on his feet and get away, being saved by Jeff, but was eaten alive by the Griever. The other 10 Gladers escaped the Maze. Once they escaped the Grievers, they began walking into a lab filled with dead WCKD scientists.
In The Maze Runner world, Earth was overwhelmed by devasting solar flares and subsequent coronal mass ejections. The few survivors now also have to face the Flare—a terminal illness that might as well consume the rest of humanity—unless a cure is found.
Thomas tells the Keepers that he and Teresa were manipulated into designing the Maze because they share the gift of telepathy. Is Thomas the cure in Maze Runner?
Teresa discovers that Thomas' blood can cure the Flare. She shares her discovery with WCKD's leader, Ava Paige, both of whom agree that they must find Thomas.
Teresa wakes from her coma, and tells Thomas telepathically that she triggered the Ending. The food is running low, the sky is permanently gray, the box is not coming up, and that same night the maze doors stay open.
It all ends here, in this epic conclusion to the "Maze Runner" saga. Thomas, Newt, and Frypan are the last of the free "Gladers" immune to the Flare virus that has ravaged the world's population.
The disease eats away the minds of the afflicted until they turn into Cranks, zombie-like creatures that roam cities killing people until they're killed themselves. Fortunately for Thomas, he and most of his friends are Munies — immune to the Flare. That's why they've been put through the Maze and the Scorch trials.
Newt gets scratched by one of the Cranks on his right forearm, consequently infecting him with the virus. How does Newt get infected on Maze Runner? So of the guys who were originally in the Glade in the books, most of them were already immune to the Flare.
They discovered that Gally was immune to the Flare virus and decided to bring him to the Last City to help nurse him back to full health from the Griever sting and being stabbed by Minho. The ultimate reveal that Gally did not die in The Maze Runner was briefly set up in the original movie.
Minho manages to escape along with Thomas, Newt, and Gally. Newt is unable to get to the berg due to being infected by the Flare, prompting Minho to run to the berg along with Gally to get the serum from Brenda.
Sometime after being left behind in the WCKD lab by the Gladers, Gally is found still lying on the floor with the spear still in his chest by a crew, who, after discovering that he is immune to the Flare, pull the spear out of his chest and take him to the Last City to meet their leader, a Crank named Lawrence, who ...
It just needed to happen, in her mind. No biggie. In book 2, she couldn't stand the thought of Thomas feeling betrayed without warning, so she tries really hard to warn him. And then basically kills their friendship to save his life.
Thomas realizes the sun and sky were artificial. He and Minho run into the Maze, and when they're about to enter Section One, they see a Griever. As they move through the Maze, the Griever is just ahead of them.
But as we get to see, there never is a cure, meaning there can only be death. At the same time, when we get to the end, the cure for the Flare seems to be—to let everyone who has it die off while those who are immune get to start over in paradise. So in that way, death really is the cure for the Flare.
Gally got through the same way the other Gladers got through. Gally used the small mechanical device that was found in the dead Griever body. We know this because when Gally appears at the end he is holding it.
For those who have seen the film, Thomas brings up Ava Paige's video log at the end of the first trial. During the recording we can see the scientists in the background being gunned down by armed rebels.
Why did Chuck sacrifice himself in The Maze Runner?
In the WICKED lab, Chuck makes the ultimate sacrifice when he steps in front of Gally's dagger to protect Thomas. His quick recognition that Thomas is the most important member of the mission and must therefore be saved is the most mature and important decision he's ever made.
The last word, PUSH, won't enter, and Chuck realizes they need to push a button marked “Kill the Maze.” Thomas, Teresa, and Chuck by the eighteen surviving Gladers, including Newt and Minho, and they go down a winding slide, landing in an enormous lab. Ghostly scientists observe them.
The emotional intensity is definitely doubled up in the movie, establishing Teresa as a Thomas' one true love interest. Unlike Dashner's original story, the possibility of him dating Brenda is eliminated, and the audiences also get enough time to process the death of a character introduced right from the first movie.
When they completed the trials, they were informed that the cure was still a work in progress and some of them were already immune. It is likely that Newt was exposed to the virus when he came into contact with the Cranks at the Crank settlement of Jorge and Brenda [3].
Disease Immunity: Teresa Agnes was shown to be immune to the deadly Flare virus and its effects. In Death Cure, when Ava Paige announced that the virus was airborne in the city dozens of the people wore mouth masks to be unable to breathe it, except for Teresa due to her immune gene keeping her unaffected.
