I found this out from my sons friend that you can hide, and play dead. To do this you crouch + peek + hold down. This will make you look like just another dead body, as long as you dont move and the Alien didnt see you lay down it will walk right past you or circle around without without attacking.
Both are very scary games, but quite different. Outlast is traditional in how it scares you. Jump scares, messing with your head, lights going out, stuff like that. Alien: Isolation scares you by having the main bad guy be both invincible and unscripted.
