Although the creature is only about one year old, exposure to Godzilla's radioactivity rapidly increased his size and stunted his natural growth, giving the young monster his bizarre appearance.
In Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, he is now called Godzilla Junior (ゴジラジュニア Gojira Junia), and after being resurrected as an adult Godzilla, he is known as either Rebirth Godzilla (新生ゴジラ Shinsei Gojira) or New Godzilla (新ゴジラ Shin Gojira).

Godzilla Junior is much more friendly with humans than any of the Guardian monsters and is very nice and friendly to people and even other monsters. He is also very playful, enjoying such games as kicking large boulders and jumping over or riding on his father's tail. Whenever he is scared his eyes glow red.
Godzilla arrives at Haneda Airport and reunites with Godzilla Junior, only for Destoroyah, bolstered by Junior's DNA, to reappear in its final, 'perfect' form. Destoroyah kills Junior by dropping Junior onto Ariake Coliseum and blasting it with its Micro-Oxygen beam.
After Destoroyah kills Godzilla Junior, Godzilla uses the power of its own energized heart to blast Destoroyah with a powerful enough heat ray to end its reign of terror while the Japanese Self-Defense Force finished it off.

As revealed in Godzilla x Kong, Godzilla's completely revamped appearance was a direct result of another Titan's energy. Specifically, the pink upgrade came courtesy of Tiamat, one of the 11 unseen monsters mentioned in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
