Ghostface Returns When Sidney's 19 Unfortunately, going off to college doesn't save Sidney from her past. Scream 2 takes place about two years after the first Woodsboro massacre, Sidney is a college student at Ohio's Windsor College, and history starts to repeat itself.
Although Scream 3 was meant to focus on Sidney's secluded life, specifically her choice to self-isolate after the events of the first two films killing nearly everyone close to her that she actually liked, Neve Campbell's contract only allowed her to film for 20 days on set.
Sidney isn't killed off, as she is still married with three children following her move from Woodsboro at the end of Scream 4. Although the events of 2022's Scream allowed Sidney to reunite with both Gale and Dewey, she doesn't stay in Woodsboro for much longer.
