I can say that Heisei Godzilla would do better than Monster X, but he'd still loose in the end. Final Wars has all the firepower and even more physical strength than the Heisei Godzilla, and surviving an exploding planetoid I'm going to put on par with surviving prolonged immersion in magma at least.

The 1998 version of Godzilla is the weakest out of all the live-action versions, as he was easily defeated by missiles, unlike other monsters in the franchise. Despite being a popular ally, Anguirus is not a strong monster on his own and has been defeated by several other creatures in the Godzilla franchise.

Re: How intelligent is Godzilla? Each Godzilla varies. Showa began as animalistic but with some true wit to it not unlike the MV and Heisei versions, before it shifted to full on human intellect in the latter half of the films.
In addition, the form itself seemed to bypass Godzilla's normal physical limitations. In the past, he would be exhausted after major fights, but with this new form, he powered through everything, even knocking down the much larger Shimo on multiple occasions, and merely walked it off towards the end of the film.
Godzilla reaches Nishi Beach, and prepares to destroy the egg until Mothra intervenes and engages Godzilla in battle. Mothra initially gets the upper hand, but is defeated by Godzilla's atomic breath. Mothra uses her last strength to fly to the egg and die next to it.
