Beetlejuice turns into a giant snake, quite scary for youngsters. Sexual:7/10 First of all, Beetlejuice is a pervert who forces Lydia to nearly marry him, and tries to kiss a mans wife.
It is definitely NOT kid friendly. With all the bad language and reference to the use of cocaine and adult humor I felt very uncomfortable being there with my child. And all the liberal gay jokes were just uncalled for. Sorry I wasted my money on it.
There are parts that are a little spooky, with one moment making me visibly jump in my seat. However, if that is the only negative thing I can say about Beetlejuice the Musical, then the show itself must be amazing. I laughed so much I was crying and crying so hard at other times that I couldn't see out of my glasses.

Why is Beetlejuice the musical so different from the movie?
The Beetlejuice musical gets a New Age spin that the movie didn't have, thanks to recharacterizations of the sculptor Delia and interior designer Otho. Delia doesn't really sculpt much in the film, but she leans fully into her new role as a relentlessly positive, crystal-loving life coach in the musical.
There is some inappropriate language and scenes. Lot of sexual innuendos and use of the f- bomb. Might go over your child's head, but up to you if you want to chance it.
"Hell," and "damnit," can be heard a few times. Two uses of "fuck", one isn't clearly heard like the other, and two of "shit". "Goddamn" is said at the very beginning of the film.

Beetlejuice is both incredibly entertaining as well as deep at times, making it one of the best musicals for high schools for its complex themes. The musical allows for a large cast and eccentric, intricate props and sets.
With Adam and Barbara in danger of disappearing forever, Lydia summons Beetlejuice to save them. The price for his help this time… Lydia has to marry him. Beetlejuice saves Adam and Barbara who, in turn, save Lydia from Beetlejuice, and expel him to the afterlife's tedious waiting room.
The plot revolves around a recently deceased couple who, as ghosts haunting their former home, contact Beetlejuice, an obnoxious and devious "bio-exorcist" from the Netherworld, to scare the home's new inhabitants away.
In the film, saying the name “Beetlejuice” thrice is the key to summoning him. Saying his name 3 times stresses how much he is wanted and acts like some sort of a “contract.” So, once he appears, you couldn't raise the defense that you summoned him by accident.
This is a cute Halloween flick without too much gore. The issue is that the PG rating is too low for what the movie contains. It views more like a PG-13. While the Halloween violence is minimal, there are numerous sexual innuendos in this movie that are shocking for a movie that seems to be aimed for kids.
After she says “Betelgeuse” for the third time, he stretches out his arms and says, “It's showtime” as lightning strikes in the background. The line is among the most iconic lines of the film, as well as the family-friendly animated series that debuted shortly after.
She informs Adam and Barbara that the Afterlife is "very personal" (pointing out various individuals in the waiting room) and tells them, "if I knew then, what I know now, I wouldn't have had my 'little accident'".
IS THERE AN AGE RECOMMENDATION? SIX is recommended for ages 10 & up. The age recommendation is there for guidance only, with any younger patrons attending at the discretion of accompanying adults but must have a ticket and be able to sit unsupported in a seat, accompanied by an adult.
“Beetlejuice” is closing on Broadway in January, ending its unconventional, fan-fueled run on the Great White Way. It will play its final show at the Marquis Theater on Jan. 8, 2023. But fear not, fans of the afterlife — the stage-version of Tim Burton's 1988 film about a pesky poltergeist isn't going away entirely.
To say too much more about all the surprises, funny jokes and visual gags jam-packed in this show would spoil the fun. But you can bet “Beetlejuice” the musical is as good as “Beetlejuice” the movie, if not better.
"Sophia has decided to exercise her contractual out to pursue television work." Presley Ryan is playing the role of Lydia through this weekend, and the production plans to announce a new Lydia next week. It's unusual for a star to exit a Broadway production with no advance warning.
