Isabelle Manning I think the maze runner book would be subtle foe 11+ but this depends on the maturity of the child as their is a bit of cursing but only a tiny bit.
Teens (ages 12 – 18) are the target audience, although many adults are reading these books right along with them. What's it about? It's one overarching story broken into three separate books, each with its own plot: The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials, The Death Cure.
The author never states that any of the characters are explicitly Lgbtq+. There isn't much romance anyway though, and only two real couples. The reason you may be confused is many people do believe that the main character (Thomas) is bi. He is shipped with Newt, and Minho.
This movie has several violent and disturbing scenes, so it's most suited to older teenagers and young adults. It isn't recommended for children under 13 years, and we recommend parental guidance for children aged 13-15 years.
May be starting for some viewers. Thomas gets his memory erased, which maybe alarming for some people. The film is filled with intense chasing and escaping scenes. The "Grievers" are monsters which are creepy and scary, especially when they are attacking the characters.
THE MAZE RUNNER is a film in which a group of young people find themselves in a glade where the only escape appears to be through a dangerous maze. Scenes of violence include fighting between the young people in the glade, with some heavy punches and blows.

The film deserves its M rating. It is very suspenseful throughout and includes some intensely violent and disturbing scenes, including a suicide and the violent deaths of teenagers.
Meanwhile, while 'The Hunger Games' scores points for characterisation, 'Maze Runner' offers a far better quality of visceral action. If tightly-focused, heart-pounding sci-fi is more your thing, you'll appreciate 'Maze Runner'. If you're a sucker for social commentary, you'll love 'The Hunger Games'.
Not for kids. I was really surprised and annoyed at the level of violence, horrible zombie creatures and sexual themes. Definitely nothing like the first movie.
While one of the main protagonists of the first film and the second film, Teresa steps up to the role of anti-villain in the climax of the second film, when she allies with WCKD but in the third film she re-allies with Thomas and his friends and becomes a protagonist once again.
Three characters are chased and attacked by zombies in a tunnel as they attempt togo through. There are a couple jump scares as well as a car flipping over onto it's top.
This movie deserves its M rating. It has even more intense violence, blood and gore, and scary images and characters than the first movie in the series. The movie is likely to be very disturbing for children. It's unsuitable for young children and isn't recommended for anyone under 15.

By season 3, Maze has become much more emotionally human, while still retaining her demonic sense of humor and fascination with weapons. Later, she marries Eve, the first woman, ex wife of Adam, the first man. Mazikeen has been described as pansexual.
I'd recommend this series to readers 12 and older. Also, it is mostly appropriate for young readers. There is no profanity or sex, but there is a large amount of violence and gore, especially in The Scorch Trials, The Death Cure, and The Kill Order.
