Another dark Pixar theory suggests the animated film predominantly set under the sea is meant to showcase the tragic loss in the eyes of a husband and father. More specifically, the theory posits that Nemo never existed in the movie, and instead was a figment of Marlin the clownfish's imagination.

'” However, according to a popular fan theory circulated on the internet, Nemo is actually the manifestation of Marlin's grief. It's a psychological crutch that the clownfish develops after he watches his entire family get killed at the start of Finding Nemo. Not just that, the word “nemo” means “nobody” in Latin.
With Marlin knocked out, the barracuda ate Coral and her eggs, and presumably, while eating them, one egg fell out of its mouth. When Marlin later regained consciousness that night, he discovered that Coral and all but one of their eggs were gone, as they had been eaten by the barracuda.
In "Finding Nemo", I discovered sunken treasure—a multifaceted representation of disability. The protagonist, Nemo, displays a small, or "deformed," fin that is a congenital result of a fatal attack on his mother and sibling eggs—a corporeal characteristic that the story surrounds, yet does not drown in.

It's quite obvious that Dory has anterograde amnesia, which is the inability to form new memories. I also see many of the signs of ADHD within the character.
Parents guide: Possibly frightening scenes: This movie definitely has some tense moments for little kids. The opening scene where the barracuda attacks Marlin's family is one you might not want to show the youngest of kids. Even the scene where Nemo gets captured might scare sensitive viewers.
Add to that info the fact that clownfish are an endangered species and you can see how it becomes a problem. Furthermore, the technique used to capture the Nemos of the world has its fair share of harmful impacts on the fishes' natural habitat, which poses a threat to the individuals still in the wild.
Crucially, at the beginning of the film Marlin's wife and all their children are killed by a barracuda leaving only Nemo alive. The theory centres around this detail, suggesting that Nemo never actually existed, and Marlin imagined him and the whole adventure as a way of coping with the loss of his wife and children.

According to media reports and conservationists, after Finding Nemo came out, the frenzy to buy the clownfish as a pet plummeted their numbers in the wild. It was dubbed the "Nemo effect," and the idea was also connected to owls from the Harry Potter films and various animals from Zootopia.
Nemo is a curious and impressionable six-year-old, only child who lives with his overprotective, single-parent father, Marlin. Having led a sheltered life, Nemo brims with the excitement of starting school and finally seeing the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef.
The companionship that emerges is completely genuine. Nonetheless, Dory and Marlin's relationship is a complicated and interesting one. Some view Dory as Marlin's companion and speculate that the two are actually lovers.
Dory's scars from her travel through the jellyfish in Finding Nemo (2003) have disappeared. They may well have healed in the time between the two films.
