Ramonda seemed to want to inflict upon Okoye what she felt when Okoye would not abandon her position as head of the Dora Milaje to help her and Shuri flee.

I personally feel as if okoye would be a much better fit, though I understand she isn't in the royal bloodline, but marvel is no stranger to making odd decisions make sense.
Killmonger saved Okoye as she fought alongside him. The two were joined by Ramonda later on and soon, they won the battle. Okoye celebrated Wakanda's victory alongside the rest of the Wakandan soldiers.
Danai Gurira portrays Okoye in media set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This version is a general of the Dora Milaje with the utmost respect for T'Challa and Wakanda and is the wife of W'Kabi. In the live-action film Black Panther, she works with T'Challa to capture Ulysses Klaue.

What happens to Okoye at the end of Wakanda Forever?

However, in the 2022 sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Okoye was dismissed from the Dora after failing to protect Shuri (Letitia Wright) from Namor (Tenoch Huerta Mejía) and the Talokan warriors.
The movie reveals early on that Nakia spent the last six years away from Wakanda primarily working at a Wakandan outreach center in Haiti. Black Panther 2's post-credits scene explained the real reason why this move was made, as she left Wakanda to raise her T'Challa's son, Prince Toussaint.
Killmonger appeared to Shuri to show her the side of herself that she'd been fighting against, and prove that there are better ways to avenge her losses than repeating his mistakes. Both Shuri and Killmonger were fueled by vengeance, Killmonger against the Wakandans, and Shuri against Namor.
