I realized that Rose was not on Chris' side as soon as the movie revealed it at the key scene. I believe the movie was very good at keeping Rose's intentions a secret, because when I originally watched the movie I never expected anything, and it caught me by surprise when it came out.
Rose finally answers Rod on Chris's phone, and, as a panicking Rod interrogates her to see if she knows where Chris is, Rose comes up with mediocre lies. Rod becomes suspicious of Rose's deceit, and mutes Rose, before plugging in a recording device to his phone.
Chris then wakes up tied to a chair facing a TV, and, in a chilling twist, the diabolical plan of the Armitages is finally revealed. They have been abducting and hypnotizing African-Americans to implant the consciousness of wealthy white individuals into their bodies in a procedure titled The Coagula.
Rose arrives at her photographer boyfriend Chris' (Daniel Kaluuya) apartment with pastries and coffee. They're getting ready to go away for the weekend to visit her family and he's concerned that they don't know she's dating a black guy.
An armed Rose apprehends Chris with Walter, who is possessed by Roman. Chris uses the flash on his phone to neutralize Roman, allowing Walter to regain control of his body.
Rod is able to transport Chris to safety as they leave Rose behind. Although the last-minute rescue by Rod comes as a moment of relief, Peele's original ending was far darker. In an earlier draft of the script, the sirens belong to real police cars, and the cops arrest Chris for the murder of the Armitage family.
The scariest scenes in Get Out are the ones that recall shocking realities. Jordan Peele uses cross-cutting masterfully during the auction scene, as he cuts between Chris and Rose saying, “I love you,” for the first time, and the Armitages auctioning off Chris' body.
The theatrical ending of Get Out is technically a happy ending, as Chris is able to escape the plotting of the Armitage's with his life. After a vicious chase, he is able to shoot Rose with a rifle which gives him the chance to strangle her, but his conscience stops him from finally killing her.

She believes that she always has the better understanding of interracial relationships than Chris does and that she is able to make the better choices for him because she lives in what she believes to be a post-racial society.
Rose realizes the deaths are actually part of a curse, with each person dying in front of a witness and passing the affliction to them. Later in Smile, Joel and Rose eventually come across a prisoner named Robert Talley (Rob Morgan), who reveals that the entity pursuing Rose feeds on trauma.
Though things seem bleak for him, Chris manages to escape the house and kills the Armitages, one by one, until only Rose remains. Chris chooses not to kill Rose, even though she was fatally shot, but when a police car rolls in, both he and the viewer assume the worst.
