In a twist of fate, Kung Fu Panda 4 brings back a formidable adversary: Tai Lung. The iconic villain, thought to have met his end in the original film, is unexpectedly making a return. In a surprising turn of events, Kung Fu Panda 4 welcomes back a formidable foe: Tai Lung.
Tai Lung was skidooshed into the Spirit Realm, where his resentment and karate skills kept building – and in the Kung Fu Panda 4 trailer, we see him summoned and power-slurped by The Chameleon.
As a result of Kai's defeat at the hands of Po, all the masters he had imprisoned, including Tai Lung, were set free. While he will not return as his original self, we will be introduced to a new villain named Chameleon, who, as the name implies, absorbs the said warrior's Chi and turns herself into them.
The main villain in “Kung Fu Panda 4” is the Chameleon, a sorceress with the power to shapeshift and steal the powers of others. This allows “Kung Fu Panda 4” to serve as the “greatest hits” of the franchise's past villains.

Will Tai Lung redeem himself?
Tai Lung, the main antagonist of the first movie, returns in Kung Fu Panda 4. The villain redeems himself by the end of the fourth installment in the film series when he finally acknowledges Po as the rightful Dragon Warrior.
Tai Lung returns in Kung Fu Panda 4 after leaving the Spirit Realm, thanks to The Chameleon's opening to another realm. The revelation connects to Kung Fu Panda 3 and what happens when Po uses the Wuxi fingerhold as he did on Tai Lung.
Po utilizes the Wuxi Finger Hold on him, obliterating Tai Lung. Tai Lung's defeat marks Po as a Kung fu warrior. In Kung Fu Panda 3, it's explained that the Finger Hold instantly sends its victim to the Spirit Realm, indicating that Tai Lung now resides there.
In short, Po beat Tai Lung not by being the superior fighter, but by being his perfect counter. Shifu lost because he was conflicted, and the Five were caught off guard by the nerve attacks they had never come across before.
It would make sense if she supported Po in his upcoming fight, but director Mike Mitchell revealed that she and the Furious Five would be on individual missions in the fourth film. Even though Tigress isn't in the trailer, she, along with her four comrades, will make a brief appearance in Kung Fu Panda 4.

Why did Shifu adopt Tai Lung when he was left at the Jade Palace? Well, Shifu had been abandoned by his father at the same place. He knew what it felt like to be without any guidance. So he decided to be the guardian of Tai Lung, similarly to what Oogui had done for him.
Years prior to the original movie, Shifu thought for a time that the Dragon Warrior would be Tai Lung due to being a kung-fu prodigy, but Oogway refused him the title because he saw the true darkness in Tai Lung's heart, causing the snow leopard to go on a rampage.
Tigress' skills have been relatively uneven since she's been defeated by the likes of Shen and Kai but has always bested Po. That mainly comes down to Po not really wanting to hurt Tigress, but it's also clear she's a cut above the rest based on pure skill.

When Po broke down the door to rescue her, she said with a smile 'If you ever change, I'll kill you' at which Po gives her a dreamy look. In "The Midnight Stranger" Tigress falls in love with the mysterious warrior who is really Po in disguise.
At the end of the film, Lord Shen's own battle-cannon collapses on top of him. Instead of running, he closes his eyes and accepts his death, knowing he has failed and preventing any persecution for his crimes.
Despite Po's sacrifice at the end of Kung Fu Panda 3, he was allowed to return to the Mortal Realm after his chat with Oogway. He, Shifu, the Furious Five, and all the pandas returned to the Valley of Peace, and Po taught everyone to master Chi.
