Te Kā is the main antagonist of Disney's 56th full-length animated feature film Moana. She was once the benevolent island goddess Te Fiti, but after her heart was stolen by the demigod Maui, she became a destructive lava demon.
Te Kā, a monster of lava and fire and one of the central characters in Disney's recent film, Moana, is female in the original American film. In the Spanish dubbing, however, Te Kā is a male character.
While Te Fiti is a largely compassionate entity, Te Kā is - quite literally - a heartless creature with a fiery disposition. The theft of her heart had stripped her of Te Fiti's benevolence, replacing it with malice aimed at both Maui and the world at large.

Why does Moana have two names?
The reasons behind the change of name are not completely clear, but a tweet from Disney España gives an important clue: 'Moana' is registered as a trademark in Spain, and in a number of other European countries, hence the change to Vaiana in Europe.
Although Moana's relationship with Maui never extends beyond the platonic level in the film, and although he is a 1,000-year old demigod and she is a 16-year old human, a lot of fans of the film like to put her and Maui in a romantic pairing known as Hooked Wayfinder.
