At 8 feet, 3 inches tall, Thanos was made taller for his MCU appearances than he was portrayed as being in the comics. Digital Design considered having "snap" briefly pop up on screen when Thanos snapped his fingers as a reference to how the snap occurred in the Infinity Gauntlet comic.
1984's The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe's Book of the Dead And Inactive II list's comic book Thanos as being 6'7, a few inches taller than the 6'2 dictator Doctor Doom but smaller in comparison to the 7' powerhouse The Incredible Hulk.

Why is Thanos so ripped?
In the MCU, Thanos is large and muscular because he was born with a genetic condition that made him both purple and much larger and stronger than the average titan. He was exiled from his planet when he was a young adult, and spent most of his life outside of Titan.
Hulk's defeat in his fight against Thanos in the opening of Infinity War may have initially been surprising, but it makes sense and needed to happen for his character. With Thanos never pulling out the Power Stone in the fight, his win was purely due to being the more skilled fighter.

He has feats such as defeating Surtur (who can destroy a planet), conquering the 9 realms, and sealing away Hela. While there isn't much doubt that Thanos could beat Odin if he had all 6 stones, Odin could probably defeat Thanos if he only had one or two of them.
Thor. Can Thor beat Thanos? In the MCU he certainly would have, if only he had aimed for the head. The Asgardian Son of Odin was extremely close to ending Thanos at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.
