An Eternal–Deviant warlord from the moon Titan, Thanos is regarded as one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. He has clashed with many heroes including the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Fantastic Four, the Eternals, and the X-Men.
But this was proven otherwise when Thanos was born from two Eternals. As a result, he becomes host to the Deviant Gene, which alters his appearance but still technically makes him an Eternal. In the films, Thanos' appearance is never explained, and it is merely assumed that he's another alien species.
In the comics, Thanos is an Eternal, and one from a very important bloodline: His father, Al'ars, was the son of Kronos, who ruled the Eternals of Earth following a civil war that divided the original colony.
The confusing part is that Thanos is affected by the Deviant Syndrome which gives him his signature purple look, despite not explicitly being a Deviant. And so, Thanos is very much an Eternal like his brother Eros.
Kro appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Eternals (2021), voiced by Bill Skarsgård. This version was previously the leader of the Deviants and was frozen in ice during an attack on Earth millennia prior.

Who is the strongest Eternal?
He is smarter than even the brightest of Earth's geniuses, including Reed Richards and Dr. Doom. Likewise, he can control time and the souls of the dead. Considered to be an equal to Zeus, Galactus, and Odin, Kronos remains the most powerful and strongest of Marvel's Eternals.
Eternals introduced a whole new group to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as the character of Eros aka Starfox (Harry Styles), who is both an Eternal and the brother of Thanos - but Marvel didn't explain how that's possible.
Thanos' biggest enemy may not be the Avengers, but the Merc With A Mouth - Deadpool himself. The Mad Titan's cosmic opposite is revealed as he battles Deadpool over a star-crossed romance. Even with Thanos' admiration for Deadpool's resilience, their rivalry is likely confined to the comic world.
Arishem, just like all the Celestials, would have no problem defeating Thanos – especially one without the Infinity Stones. Thanos was one of the strongest living creatures in the universe, granted, but he was far from an all-powerful entity like the MCU's Celestials.
In the comics, Thanos and Eros were born on Titan to two Eternal parents, but the children of two Eternals risk being born with Deviant DNA. Eros, then, was born without the Deviant gene, while Thanos was born with the Deviant Syndrome, thus why he's purple and looks nothing like his brother.
Later in the movie, it's revealed the real reason the Eternals didn't interfere in Infinity War or Endgame is because they were secretly paving the way for the Emergence, allowing the Celestial Tiamut to rise on Earth.
The Eternals have many secrets, and one of them is the ability of the Prime Eternal to form a Uni-Mind, combining the power and knowledge of three or more Eternals into one powerful being. The Uni-Mind is capable of amazing things, and with enough Eternals, Zuras would be able to defeat Thanos.
Without the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos stands little chance against Prime Odin. Odin is stated to be able to shatter the Earth. And he turned Frigga into stars. He has devastated while worlds, laid waste to kingdoms and destroyed demons and monsters.
Thanos and Hulk have clashed several times in Marvel lore, with Thanos even admitting he was scared to face the Hulk before acquiring the Infinity Stones. While Thanos is usually the victor, it's generally down to him using superior tactics and technology, rather than simply possessing greater physical strength.
Thanos was born to A'Lars, a member of the Titans, a race of powerful, god-like beings that evolved on the planet of Titan. He belonged to the royal family of Titan and was the adoptive brother of the Eternal Eros, who eventually left Titan.
Hercules is considered the physically strongest character in the whole marvel universe. Literally the strongest, even over characters such as Thor, Hulk, and the Destroyer.
Marvel audiences have already got to know Dane Whitman a little bit from Eternals, as he entered the film as the boyfriend of Sersei, one of the Eternals.
Peter Jason Quill was born in 1980 to Meredith Quill and Ego, making him a hybrid of human and Celestial. His conception was all part of a plot set up by his father to produce a second Celestial, whose power he could use to complete the Expansion, which involved assimilating millions of worlds into Ego's very being.
Rune King Thor would win against the Mad Celestials. As Rune King Thor, the Son of Odin regained the Odinforce. Which, by itself, makes him at least comparable to Odin in power. Odin is a multiversal skyfather.
