This film is probably scary for impressionable teenagers, because it certainly isn't for mature audiences. There are descriptions of suicide, lots of blood, slashed skin, stabbing, dead bodies, burning bodies, a man is buried alive (but escapes), shooting, demonic possession and all that stuff.
But on the other hand, the movie may as well have gone for those as scares, because it isn't effective with the ones it does give us. Instead, the movie relies on jump scares, most of which involve Valak suddenly appearing, which are cheap and exploitative.
Expect to see creepy images, scary monsters, deaths, blood (including a corpse lying in a huge blood puddle), young girls in peril, characters on fire, and neck-snapping. Additionally, women are beaten, punched, and thrown; a woman is repeatedly beaten with a thurible; a girl is gored by goat horns; and more.
So we appreciate the diligent effort that goes into recording the profusion of shocks in movies like the second “Haunting in Connecticut” film — which, at 32, contains the highest jump count on the site. The ban was prompted by a viral tweet that cautioned anyone who hates jump scares or had anxiety to look away and turn down the volume when they saw an ad … with the volume being turned down and nothing else. The ad in question is clearly designed to freak out the viewer as much as possible.
