Blade Runner, the iconic science fiction film, is set to expand its universe with a new sequel series titled Blade Runner 2099. This series, set fifty years after Blade Runner 2049, promises to delve deeper into the dystopian world first introduced by Ridley Scott in 1982.
The “Blade Runner” series in the works at Amazon Prime Video has cast Michelle Yeoh in a lead role, Variety has learned. The series, titled “Blade Runner 2099,” was ordered at Amazon in September 2022. It serves as a sequel to both the original “Blade Runner” film and the followup film, “Blade Runner 2049.”
Blade Runner 2099 will debut on Amazon streaming service Prime Video, with rumours hinting at a 10-episode arc. Filming was due to begin in Belfast in mid-2023. However, production was pushed back until spring 2024 due to the Hollywood strikes, with Prague becoming the new filming location.

Unsure, K sought further information and Joi suggested finding the one responsible for creating memories for replicants.

On his way, he encounters a large holographic advertisement for Joi, his holographic companion. While capturing Deckard, Luv (Sylvia Hoeks) destroys the emanator of K's Joi, effectively killing her in the process.
This is when she slices his eyes with her katana, permanently blinding him. While Elle manages to escape with her life and leave Los Angeles for parts unknown, her actions may have actually motivated Wallace Jr. to become the ruthless CEO he is in Blade Runner 2049.
