Tuddy Cicero was based on Vito “Tuddy” Vario, Paul Vario's youngest brother, of whom very little is known, but he took over as acting boss of the Vario crew after Paulie's arrest in 1980.
Sorvino was particularly known for his roles as Lucchese crime family caporegime Paulie Cicero (based on real life gangster Paul Vario) in Martin Scorsese's 1990 gangster film Goodfellas and as NYPD Sergeant Phil Cerreta on the second and third seasons of the TV series Law & Order.

Paul "Paulie" Cicero is the overarching antagonist of the 1990 crime film Goodfellas. He is based on the late real-life mob boss Paul Vario. He was portrayed by the late Paul Sorvino, who also portrayed Alphonse Perrier du von Scheck in Hey Arnold!
Vario became known for his violent temper, and he became a member of the Lucchese crime family of the American Mafia, rising to the rank of caporegime. His crew operated in Brooklyn, and famous members of his crew included Henry Hill, Jimmy Conway, and Tommy DeVito.
This differs from the events depicted in the movie. The character of Jimmy Conway, based on James Burke, was involved in the Lufthansa heist and other crimes, but was ultimately convicted for conspiracy and his involvement in a gambling scandal.
In 1990, Karen filed for divorce after 23 years of marriage. The divorce was finalized in 2002. After their divorce, Henry remarried and fathered another child. Karen Hill continues to use an alias to protect her identity, as do her two children, Gregg and Gina.
The majority of the plot points in Goodfellas are 100% real, but some events were slightly sped up or omitted for effect. Robert De Niro's performance as Jimmy Conway in Goodfellas is authentic and chilling, and Martin Scorsese's masterful direction elevates the portrayal.
Shortly after the marriage had taken place Cicero's daughter, Tullia, died. Publilia had been jealous of her and was so unsympathetic over her death that Cicero divorced her.
Death. Hill died of complications related to heart disease in a Los Angeles hospital, on June 12, 2012, after a long battle with his illness, a day after his 69th birthday. His girlfriend for the last six years of his life, Lisa Caserta, said, "He had been sick for a long time. ... his heart gave out".
New York City, New York, U.S. DeSimone's career in the Lucchese family is explored in the book Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi, and inspired the character of Tommy DeVito, portrayed by Joe Pesci, one of the main characters of the 1990 film Goodfellas.

While Karen and Paulie's affair wasn't included nor mentioned in Goodfellas, it was subtly referenced in the scene where Paulie and Jimmy confront Henry about him cheating on Karen after she told them about it.
[Spoiler Inside] Henry ratted on Tommy for killing Billy Batts in Goodfellas. There were four people there. One did it and one is dead; that leaves Jimmy and Henry (yes, Tommy technically could've told but it's unlikely since his life was on the line).
Why was Henry Hill removed from witness protection?
To clear things up, Hill was arrested in Seattle in 1987 for cocaine trafficking. While the movie states that he was still protected under federal law until 1980 or so, the fact is that Hill and his family were kicked out of the Witness Protection Program in 1987 for his drug arrest in Seattle (via NBC News).
The cast did not meet Henry Hill until a few weeks before the film's premiere. Liotta met him in an undisclosed city; Hill had seen the film and told the actor that he loved it.
Although the response from the mob was mostly good, there were many others who weren't on board with the themes addressed in Goodfellas and its portrayal of Italian-Americans.
Goodfellas' Morrie Kessler was based on Martin Krugman, an associate of Jimmy Burke (Conway in Goodfellas) and Hill and who just like Morrie owned a wig shop and men's hair salon in Queens.
Sadly, due to Henry's continuous crimes while in witness protection, they were expelled from the program in the early 1990s. Since then, Karen Hill has remained as far from the spotlight as possible and continued using an alias to protect her and her children's identities.
But more has come to light. So down we go. Another rabbit hole. Goodfellas' Morris Kessler was based on Marty Krugman, a 1970s bookmaker and owner of a hairdressers and wig salon, For Men Only, just up the street from Henry Hill's Queens nightclub The Suite.
