Despite being William Afton's daughter, she does not share her father's last name "Afton". Her last name could be her mother's surname or a fake surname to hide her connections to William.
Vanessa was a devoted daughter to William Afton until she discovered his true, horrifying identity as a criminal mastermind responsible for the deaths of numerous children. In light of this revelation, she chose to assist Mike in his mission to rescue his sister, Abby.
However, a local police officer, Vanessa Monroe (Elizabeth Lail), warns him of child disappearances in the 80s and how they may be connected to the animatronic performers in the pizzeria. Mike soon discovers that the abandoned pizzeria may not be as lifeless as it appears.

Both had been corrupted in their perspective story. Elizabeth corrupted after been possessed Circus Baby under animatronic evil influence, while Vanessa corrupted after been brainwashed by the Mimic.

Vanessa was originally named "Vanessa Monroe" in the detailed plot synopsis. Her last name was changed to Shelly, This was likely done to help hide her identity as an Afton.
After despised and left for dead, Michael's corpse is somehow reanimated as Pink Man, for the hemorragies caused by The Scooper caused his skin to rot and become a purple-colored biological remain.
The springlocks holding it back are also very dangerous and will slice through your neck and stomach making it impossible to scream for help, you are left to die in the suit. It is painful, there are spikes impaling your body in every place and it will take a long time for you to die.
Yet, it is still unknown how Vanny was able to get fully manipulated and corrupted to become as sinister and evil as Glitchtrap.
