The movie focuses on mental health and trauma and it does that very well. Not for the easily rattled, lots of gore and jump-scares. I would not recommend for kids.
Despite the happy-sounding title, the movie Smile is not for children. It is a very graphic horror movie that shows several mutilated bodies in all their gory detail.
Smile, by Raina Telgemeier - wonderful graphic novel for ages 9 - 13. So many kids are drawn to graphic novels and comic books - they love how visually stimulating they are, they love the laughs and the drama. They love reading books with fewer words but all the ideas!

It's a show for adults about adult topics. It's not like kids can't understand the surface level topics, but they won't have the experience necessary to process it as intended and might come out the worse for it, same as most adult shows. My recommendation is no, and the recommendation of the show is also no.
Definitely don't watch it with your kids: There are some fairly graphic depictions of violence and a healthy heaping of profanity which make this a really, really poor choice for younger viewers – even aside from the continual peril of the situation. But, as a reasonably exciting little thriller, you could do worse.
Great film, but not for kids under 13. I recommend this film to everyone who loves slightly disturbing films and TV shows like me but for anyone under the age of 13 you really should not watch it. It's very gory and contains adult language.

kids 9+ should read this. the book is about Raina going through anxiety and the troubles she has growing up. This should be for a person that is mature enough.
This film is far from as graphic and disturbing as Ari Aster's “Hereditary” and “Midsommar,” but there are still some disturbing scenes that make members of the audience want to plug their ears and squeeze their eyes shut. The jump scares are also intense but there aren't so many as to overdo it.
The movie features a lot of special effects and video game-style technology. Because of its mature content, Free Guy is best suited to older teenagers and adult audiences.
Even here the shots are quite brief so the focus on the detail is minimal and the infliction of pain is not dwelt upon – keeping it firmly within the 15 category. It is also worth noting here the comic tone of this and many other violent sequences.
