Caledon "Cal" Hockley has always gotten a bad rap. Ostensibly the villain of Titanic—presented in an even worse light than even the iceberg and whatever genius decided to stock the unsinkable ship with, like, six lifeboats—Hockley is often called evil, misogynistic, and downright sociopathic.
Rose could not bear to part with Jack. Cal became enraged by this and chased the two through the ship with a revolver in an attempt to shoot both of them, however, his attempt failed when his gun ran out of bullets. Cal chasing Rose and Jack.
Rose shared that Cal eventually got married (though to whom is unknown) and inherited his millions, as he was the heir to a Pittsburgh steel fortune. However, the Wall Street Crash of 1929 made him lose his wealth, and he committed suicide that same year – or, at least, that's what Rose read.
Cal has to have known this. Rose tells Jack 'all of Philadelphia Society' will be present for their engagement party. It would be highly unlikely that word hadn't travelled up the society grape vine to Cal and his father that Ruth and Rose were broke.

Although Rose changed her name to “Dawson” to honor Jack, used this name during her acting career, and ultimately revealed she never got over Jack, she moved on and got married at some point in her life.
Zane played the snobbish millionaire misanthrope Caledon Hockley in James Cameron's 1997 blockbuster Titanic. This role as Rose's (played by Kate Winslet) fiancé earned him an MTV Movie Award nomination for "Best Villain" and a Blockbuster Entertainment Award.
Cal gifted the diamond to Rose onboard the Titanic, as a “reminder of his feelings for her”, and reminded Rose that there was nothing he would deny her, asking her to open her heart to him. Rose wore the diamond when Jack drew her only wearing the necklace, and it was used to frame Jack for stealing it.
The note is written on Titanic stationary, with a red White Star Line flag printed on the left, and “On board R.M.S. “TITANIC”” at the right. Bellow the letterhead is Rose's note, which reads: “Darling now you can keep us both locked in your safe — Rose” printed in black ink.
Some sources say they had whereas others deny this. As per the Titanic Question and Answer page from Movie Mistakes, When he says at breakfast "wife in practice" he's saying that yes, they indeed sleep together which is also why she isn't hesitant about sleeping with Jack so quickly.
In the movie, Caledon "Cal" Hockley (Billy Zane) bribes Murdoch to gain a place in one of his lifeboats which Murdoch later throws back in Cal's face. There is no evidence that Murdoch ever took a bribe. James Cameron likely put the bribe in the film to show Cal's lack of integrity rather than Murdoch's.
Hockley survived the sinking by cheating his way onto a lifeboat, pretending a deserted child was his own. He lost contact with Rose, mistakenly believing she had died in the sinking. He was later driven to suicide after being bankrupted by the financial crash of 1929.

However, Caledon's rescue of her was not only out of part heroism, but also using her for his own interests to gain access to a lifeboat. The ship's crew forbade men to board unless they were in the company of children and not accompanied by a woman. This ultimately led to both of them surviving.
