Galadriel, one of the greatest Elves of Middle-earth, could resist the temptation of the One Ring because of her exceptional strength of will, wisdom, and awareness of the Ring's corrupting influence. Galadriel was keenly aware of the Ring's power and its danger, having seen the destruction it wrought on others.
But, in fact, when Frodo offers the Ring to Gandalf, the wizard pulls back sharply, refusing even to touch it. His explanation is candid and revealing. He says that his power makes him too susceptible, and that his great moral goodness could turn to equally great evil under the Ring's influence.

The dwarves of Middle-Earth were notoriously strong willed, able to resist corruption and stay true to their purpose. Sauron had no means by which to corrupt them regardless of how he tried.
Despite her power, Galadriel couldn't match Sauron's ability to wield the One Ring, and it would have ultimately turned against her. Even if she managed to carry the ring, Galadriel's ambition and power-seeking nature would have eventually led to her corruption, making her unfit to deal with Sauron's weapon.
Fortunately, Aragorn avoids the corruption of the Ring in the only way possible… by refusing to take it in the first place. He doesn't crave power, except what is his by right, and he doesn't fear death. He also knows what happens to those who accept Sauron's gifts.
Additionally, while he was in his weakened state, Galadriel could hold him off through the power of will alone. However, if Sauron had his One Ring and faced off in a battle against Galadriel, it's unlikely that there would be much she could do.
She also resisted being offered the ring of power by Frodo following his vision in the mirror of Galadriel, an immense test given the ring's seductive powers. Yet Gandalf's power level exceeds even that of Galadriel, as shown by his rebirth in the Two Towers.
In the final episode of season one we found out that Halbrand was, in fact, Sauron and has been manipulating Galadriel in order to access knowledge that only elves have.
For those that haven't read Tolkien's work, it's easy to see why many audiences suspect Gandalf and Galadriel are in love. After all, many of their interactions in The Hobbit trilogy practically scream romance. However, their relationship remains purely platonic in Tolkien's source material.

Bloodlines are very important in Tolkien's stories, and it makes a lot of sense that Sauron would fear the great-grandson of the man who cut off his hand. Aragorn carried the blood of Numenor with him. His genetic connection to the heroes of the Second Age established him as a dangerous opponent of Sauron.
