Gimli remains a steadfast defender of Galadriel's beauty throughout the trilogy, and his love for her is one of the reasons he is later named Elf-friend.
At this time in the story, Elves and Dwarves were more enemies than allies and refused to trust one another. But their differences weren't enough to keep Gimli from admiring Galadriel's beauty. So of all of the gifts that he could ask for, he requested a strand of her hair to remember her beauty.
Fans know from the later Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit tales, that Galadriel eventually finds, falls in love with, and marries Celeborn, the elf who accompanies her down the stairs when the fellowship first arrives in Lothlorien.
For those that haven't read Tolkien's work, it's easy to see why many audiences suspect Gandalf and Galadriel are in love. After all, many of their interactions in The Hobbit trilogy practically scream romance. However, their relationship remains purely platonic in Tolkien's source material.
With that in mind, Galadriel and Sauron's longing gazes were a big stretch, at least in the context of romance. Still, The Rings of Power's proposal scene wasn't completely out of left field. Sauron seemed to genuinely feel a connection to her, and part of that came from sensing the darkness inside of Galadriel.
Through her great-grandmother, Idril, Arwen was a descendant of King Turgon of the Noldor. Through her mother, she was the granddaughter of the Elf-queen Galadriel of Lothlórien. Through both of her parents, Arwen was a direct descendant of the ancient Elven House of Finwë.
In The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Galadriel saves Gandalf from being held captive by Sauron, and the two share an intimate moment. She holds and kisses him tenderly on the forehead, prompting him to spring back to consciousness.
Celeborn. The Lord of Lothlórien and Galadriel's husband. Celeborn is hailed as one of the wisest Elves in Middle-earth, but it is clear that his wife Galadriel has the advantage, having been tutored by the Valar and the Maiar. Celeborn and Galadriel have two children together: a daughter, Celebrían, and a son, Amroth.

He was never seen in Middle-earth after he left. The date of his death is unknown. Though Gimli's life story doesn't mention any children, there are tons of other dwarves in the world of Middle-earth. Gimli is certainly important among his people, but he wasn't the first, and he won't be the last.
He's smiling because he knows Galadriel looked at Gimli and decided he deserved more than the greatest Elf that ever lived, and twice that. And it's there that both of them consider the possibility that an Elf and a Dwarf can be friends.
"So I think in his pitch to Galadriel, it cannot mean that he loves her or that there's any kind of romantic relationship. There should be no ambiguity around the fact that Sauron is evil — he's terrible, and he's using Galadriel to enhance his power."
Thus, Galadriel's dark form in Jackson's The Lord of the Rings personified what would have occurred had the Lady of Lothlorien given in to temptation and taken the One Ring for herself. She would have succumbed to evil because the Ring was indomitable, even with her power.
Around FA 52 (FA as in First Age), Galadriel came to Doriath. Galadriel was one of the Ñoldor who came to Middle-earth wishing to see the lands and rule a realm of her own. She came with the second host of Elves from Aman with Fingolfin and Finrod. In Doriath, she and Celeborn fell in love and married.
Yet, since Tolkien does give family trees for other important Elves in the book, such as Galadriel and Elrond, it's clear that Galadriel is not Legolas's mother. (Besides, she is one of the Noldor, not a Silvan or Sindar Elf.)
Legolas never marries. The closest he gets is spending the rest of his life, as far as we know, with Gimli; they travel around Middle Earth for decades together, and eventually Gimli is given special dispensation to travel to the Undying Lands with his "friend" Legolas—the only dwarf ever to do so.

Celeborn was a Sindarin prince of Doriath, being the grandson of Elmo, the brother of Thingol; thus, he was the grand-nephew of the King of Doriath. In the early First Age, Finrod and Galadriel came to Doriath as guests of Thingol. There, Celeborn and Galadriel met, fell in love, and were soon wedded.
The Third Age. At the beginning of the Third Age, Elrond married Celebrían, daughter of Galadriel. They had three children: twin sons, Elladan and Elrohir, and a daughter, Arwen.
Though neither is someone you'd wish to annoy, Galadriel is generally considered more powerful than Elrond in Lord of the Rings. Not only is she older than her Rivendell counterpart, but Galadriel witnessed the light from Valinor's Two Trees, giving her a mystic quality.
