She wasn't a true redhead. Although her vivid red hair came to be her trademark, Lucy was actually a natural brunette. She first dyed her hair blonde early in her career when she landed her first roles in Hollywood. In the early 1950s, she was urged to dye her hair red by MGM and she agreed.
Before jumping into comedy, Ball was a natural brunette, and even a blonde at one point during her early modeling days. She didn't dye it red until she landed a role in the 1943 musical Du Barry Was a Lady and then decided to keep it.
"A lot of people think of the color as red, but [her hair was] a golden-apricot color," Kusely explained. "I used regular hair dye [to color it], and then a henna rinse, which she was famous for. She had a safe of [the henna] in my garage."
Ball was born to Henry Durrell Ball (September 16, 1887 – February 19, 1915) and Desiree "DeDe" Evelyn Hunt (September 21, 1892 – July 20, 1977) in Jamestown, New York. Her family was Baptist. She was of French, Scottish, English, and Irish ancestry.
She did not appear in film or television roles for the rest of her career and died in 1989 from an abdominal aortic aneurysm and arteriosclerotic heart disease at the age of 77.

Lucy's love for Schroeder began in the strip from January 27, 1953, where she misheard Schroeder discuss the Nutcracker Suite, thinking he meant "sweet". This resulted in Lucy developing a crush on him.
Developmentally, Lucy was a fully adult individual when she died, which is evidenced by her teeth and bones. For example, Lucy's third molars, or “wisdom teeth,” had erupted and were even a little bit worn at the time she died (Johanson, Taieb, et al., 1982).

Compared to chimpanzees, Lucy had relatively smaller incisor teeth, but larger molar teeth, suggesting that she did little to dentally prepare her food, and spent more time intensively chewing or breaking down the food6.
