After Tarzan is grazed in the arm by a bullet fired by a vengeful Clayton, Kerchak sees this and rushes at the hunter to protect Tarzan. However, Clayton turns his rifle to Kerchak and fires the shot, fatally wounding the silverback to the horror of Tarzan.

What is the relationship between Tarzan and Kerchak?
Kerchak was Tarzan's adoptive father, but he never considered Tarzan his son as he was a human, viewed him as a threat to his family, and didn't want him to be a replacement for his deceased biological son.
