A well-known reference to pink elephants occurs in the 1941 Disney animated film Dumbo. In a segment known as "Pink Elephants on Parade", after taking a drink of water from a bucket spiked with champagne, Dumbo and Timothy begin to hallucinate singing and dancing elephants.
The original includes a sequence in which Dumbo accidentally drinks champagne. While drunk, he hallucinates a number of pink elephants marching and singing a psychedelic tune.

The clowns throw a bottle of champagne into a water trough. Unaware, Dumbo and Timothy drink from the trough. They get so drunk that they hallucinate. The next day, they can't seem to remember the night before, and they have hangovers.
They come up with a plan for their next act, and while they are leaving to tell their boss, one accidentally hits the table with the bottle of champagne which drops into Dumbo's water bucket, which is right outside their break tent. Dumbo and Timothy drink the spiked water and become instantly and heavily drunk.

Dumbo, crying after visiting his mother, gets the hiccups, so Timothy takes him to the vat for water. Both of them get drunk, and hallucinate pink elephants. Dumbo and Timothy are later discovered asleep high up in a tree by Dandy Crow and his friends.

At first glance, Disney's Dumbo may not be though of as a film that portrays disability, but its protagonist Dumbo has a deformity-- extra large ears. In the film, the baby elephant is ostracized. He is not allowed to participate in the circus and is seen as an outcast amongst his peers.
While the character of Dumbo doesn't speak in the film because he is a baby, Dickie Jones (the voice of Pinocchio) was considered briefly for voicing the role.
There are also some very sad parts, like when Mrs. Jumbo is separated from baby Dumbo, which might prove upsetting for younger/more sensitive viewers and foster and/or adoptive families. Characters also discuss loss (the main kid characters' mom died from influenza).
Finally, they calculated the surface area of Dumbo's ears and fed all the numbers into their model. They found that if Dumbo's ears were any smaller, he'd suffer severe heat stress while flying. “We concluded that he needs big ears not just to fly but to lose the extra heat he produces while flying,” says Phillips.
The Pink Elephant Paradox illustrates that trying to suppress a thought is likely to make it more intrusive. This can negatively affect your emotions, focus and decision-making abilities. Rather than suppress negative thoughts, it is healthier to acknowledge the emotion.
His only friend in the world is the elephant's worst nightmare: a mouse called Timothy, who prescribes a drink of water, without realising it's been spiked with champagne. Dumbo's first drink makes him hiccup.
In the end of the film, when Dumbo and his mother are freed, Max Medici reopens his own circus that's humane to all animals and performers, allowing monkeys, snakes, horses and more live freely and assuring guests that the Medici Family Circus, as it's now called, is a place for everyone to be free and happy.
Under the service's Stories Matter section, Disney explained its decision of removing the content. 'Dumbo,' made in 1941, features a group of crows who "pay homage to racist minstrel shows, where white performers with blackened faces and tattered clothing imitated and ridiculed enslaved Africans."

Dumbo is the first and only protagonist in a Disney animated feature film to have no spoken dialogue. The first Walt Disney movie for Sterling Holloway (the Stork) and Verna Felton (the Elephant Matriarch and Mrs. Jumbo's only line). Both would become regulars in Disney animated films over the next 35 years.
