R - An R rated film means 'Restricted'. Those under 17 require an accompanying parent. Similar to the UK's 15. NC-17 - Like the UK's 18, an NC-17 film is considered for adults and not appropriate for tweens or younger children.
NC-17. The NC-17 rating is the highest rating (even higher than the R-rating) that a film can be given, and it means the movie is for adults only (ages 18 and older) and no one age 17 or younger will be admitted. This rating, prior to 1990, was previously rated X.
Founded by Holly Tarquini in 2014, the F-Rating is used like a Fair trade stamp to give film lovers an easily identifiable label so they can choose films that fairly represent women on screen and behind the camera. The F-Rating is applied to all films which are directed by women and/or written by women.
According to the MPAA's website: “A motion picture's single use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words initially requires at least a PG-13 rating. More than one such expletive requires an R rating.”
The G rating essentially means nothing because it's seen as films for little kids. Family films are now all going for the PG rating even though nothing in the film warrants it.
Is 'Wonka' Appropriate for Younger Kids? While Wonka is definitely appropriate for tweens and teens, ages 13 and up. Parents of younger kids need to know that it has a PG rating due to some mild violence, mild language, and some thematic elements.
Films and computer games classified M (Mature) are not recommended for children under the age of 15. They can have content such as violence and themes that requires a mature outlook. Children under the age of 15 may legally access this content.
Wednesday is rated TV-14 for violence, fear, and profanity, which means it may not be suitable for children under 14 years old. Keep in mind that age ratings are simply suggestions — your child might be able to handle the show before age 14, or you may have a child older than 14 who finds it too scary.
