Upon learning that he was indeed a raccoon, he dubbed himself Rocket Raccoon and joined his fellow Guardians in a battle against his former creator, whom he chose to spare.
Ever since MCU fans first met Rocket, he's hated when people called him a raccoon, even though he's not sure what one is. However, he doesn't mind when people misidentify the Earth mammal he most closely resembles. Thor called him "Rabbit" through Infinity War and Endgame.

The movie's post-credits scene revealed his adolescent form, which is the term James Gunn prefers over designating Groot as a teen. An adolescent is defined as being between 10-19 years old, but Gunn's preference could mean he is a pre-teen.

No Thor's merely come up with a pet-name, a name one would use with friends for his comrade-in-arms. He does know his name is Groot (it wouldn't be changed even in translation) but he prefers to call him Tree; just as how he addresses Rocket Raccoon as a rabbit, despite clearly not being one.
It's because Thor actually understands Groot, so unless Groot specifically introduces himself by name Thor would just auto translate “I am Groot” into what he's actually saying.
Rocket would certainly say so. In fact, he has referred to himself as the smartest character in the MCU, and it may not be untrue. Rocket claims that while Tony Stark was smart, that's only 'Earth Smart' while Rocket is genetically engineered space explorer smart.
Rocket asked to come with them, but Lylla told him that it was not his time yet and that he still had a purpose in life, before they shared a kiss where Rocket's cybernetics were deactivated, allowing critical medical treatment to be applied to him, leading to him being revived.
For Rocket, this included naming his known associates, which included Groot, his Flora Colossus bodyguard, and Lylla. Until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, this was the only mention of Lylla in the MCU, causing some confusion among audiences as to who this mysterious character might be.
