Summary and Analysis Part 3: Chapter 24. Katniss can tell that Peeta feels bad about unintentionally killing Foxface. As they cook their food, Katniss realizes she hasn't been very nice to Peeta all day, so when he asks to go back to the cave, Katniss aggress even though she doesn't want to make the long trek back.
Katniss explains that the berries, some of which Foxface stole, are poisonous. In a way, Peeta outsmarted Foxface. They decide to hold on to the rest of the berries in case the same opportunity arises with Cato.
Summary: Chapter 24. Katniss finds a jabberjay making the noise that sounds exactly like her sister. She kills it and understands that it's a trick by the Gamemakers. Just as Finnick catches up to her she hears an unfamiliar voice crying out, and Finnick rushes after it.
Summary and Analysis Part 3: Chapter 25. Katniss can see that the creatures are muttations. From a distance, they look like wolves but are able to balance on their hind legs. She follows Cato toward the Cornucopia and starts climbing, then remembers Peeta with his hurt leg.
Though still suffering nightmares from the entire ordeal, they comfort each other. Twenty years later, Katniss and Peeta are married and have two children. Under Paylor's administration, the Hunger Games are abolished with the arenas replaced by memorials.

In the sky that night, there is the picture of Thresh. Katniss is sad that he's dead and struggles to hide her pain. In the end, Katniss and Gale grew apart, as many childhood friends and young loves do. She needed something different in her life, and with Gale's link to Primrose's death, Katniss found a reason to cut ties. Rue dies and Katniss realizes just how much she hates the Capitol for doing this to Rue, for doing this to all of the tributes. She wants revenge on the Capitol and wonders if there's a way for her to do it.
In the 74th Hunger Games, Clove was the only Career tribute who came close to killing Katniss twice — at the Bloodbath and at the Feast, and certainly seemed to have a deep hatred for her, perhaps because Katniss received a higher score than her.
Katniss goes with Cinna to be readied for the reunion. She tries her best not to be annoyed by the prep team. Cinna brings out a simple yellow dress that is padded with curves since Katniss has lost so much weight. Cinna tells Katniss that they did want to surgically change Katniss.
Why is Katniss prevented from seeing Peeta in Chapter 26?
Katniss begins to panic when she notices that Peeta isn't there, but Haymitch assures her that it's only because the Capitol wants to televise their reunion. Another unlikely relationship that's come out of the Hunger Games is the one between Katniss and Haymitch.
