Post-death A funeral for Neteyam was held by the Metkayina clan at the Cove of the Ancestors. His mother Neytiri sang her songcord as a lament for her deceased son. His body was laid to rest at the bottom of the cove where it would be gradually devoured in a golden field of sea anemones.
The first reason why Neteyam has four fingers while his siblings all have five fingers might be simple genetics. Since an avatar is a hybrid of Na'vi and human DNA, it's easy to imagine the genes that control the number of digits in the body competing with each other.
But, the question still remains: Will Neteyam return to Avatar 3? The short and easy answer is, No. But, it's important to note that the Avatar franchise has brought dead characters back in the past.
That is, it could be severely reflected on the part of Aonung by the loss of a loved one. But the scenes with hints associated with Neteyam and Aonung were left by some. They were originally supposed to be a couple. Alas, no luck.

Why was Neteyam killed off?
It was only when Lo'ak insisted that Neteyam agreed to the rescue. Neteyam risked his life and perished in order to save Lo'ak and Spider from Quaritch. As Jake himself said: "A son for a son". Spider wept for Neteyam as he died as well.
The Pandora native was part of a tease at the end of Avatar, where the scene showed that Neytiri is pregnant with Jake's child. That scene was later deleted. Neteyam was born shortly after the events of the first film, which makes him somewhere around 15 years old in Avatar 2.
One of the visual effects team's biggest hurdles was how to transform 73-year-old Sigourney Weaver into Kiri, the adopted teenage daughter of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri.
Lo'ak is the fourteen-year-old son of Jake Sully and Neytiri, and one of the main protagonist of “Avatar: The Way of Water”. His rebellious spirit is portrayed by his outfits, garments and hair.
Neteyam was only 15 years old when he died during the climax of Avatar 2. He and his younger, more reckless brother Lo'ak were determined to save their symbolic brother Spider, the biological son of the antagonist Miles Quaritch.
Desperate to kill Jake, Quaritch murders the tulkun Ro'a. Eventually, he also captures some of Jake's children. In the ensuing fight, Jake's firstborn, Neteyam, is killed by the Recom Lyle Wainfleet. Avatar: The Way of Water's emotional ending hinges on Neteyam's death.
Because Grace had an avatar body, Kiri possesses human-like traits such as her eyebrows and five fingers on her hands. She also lacks the elongated canines common amongst the Na'vi.
Jake, for his part, rarely demonstrates his love for his children, commanding their respect rather than expressing how he feels about them. Jake and Neytiri become the parents of three biological children (Neteyam, Lo'ak and Tuktirey), as well as two adoptive children (Miles Socorro and Kiri).
The next day, Neteyam, his siblings and their friends listen to Lo'ak explain how Payakan saved his life. Neteyam, Kiri and Tuktirey were taken to the most sacred place of the clan, the Cove of the Ancestors, where the Spirit Tree is found underwater and they connect with it.
Her father is not a father, her father is another mother, Eywa, the Great Mother, the sentient life force of Pandora itself that exists in all things there, but is rarely understood. So essentially yes, Kiri was born from Eywa just like Anakin Skywalker was allegedly conceived by the Force itself and its midichlorians.
Kiri's backstory is a little more complicated, as she was gestated in Dr. Grace's avatar. However, it can be surmised that Kiri is around the same age as Lo'ak, making her either 13 or 14 years old. Tuktirey, or Tuk for short, is much harder to guess as there are really no clues given.
Lifespan. Although lifespan data is incomplete, it is estimated Na'vi live 30% longer than the average human. Once born, Na'vi children mature more rapidly than humans.
Kiri is a young Na-vi around fourteen years of age. Since she was conceived through an avatar body (a genetically engineered human/Na'vi-hybrid body, designed to serve as a remotely controlled vessel for a human mind) she was born with human-like traits, such as eyebrows and five fingers instead of four.
For one, even if Neytiri is 18 in human years, she's the Na'vi equivalent of a human in their early-to-mid-twenties. This is proven in three different ways: James Cameron has stated that Jake's avatar body is around 17 human years old.
Rotxo is commonly confused to be one of the boys who bullied Kiri and later pranked Lo'ak due to the bully having a very similar hairstyle. The caption in this scene even has his name in the line [ROTXO:“I don't know”] in response to Aonung asking what she's doing.
Lo'ak te Suli Tsyeyk'itan is officially 7'7. Tuktirey te Suli Tsyeyk'itan is officially 5'7. Miles Socorro is officially 6ft. Miles Quaritch is officially 9'5.
