Rod is downloadable in Cars 2: The Video Game, even though he's supposed to be dead. it's possible that Rod is either part of the simulations or maybe has been restored by the C.H.R.O.M.E.agency, since he is a car (which can be restored, while people can't be restored like cars).

Doc died prior to the events of Cars 2 (his voice actor, Paul Newman, died in 2008), although he continued to be remembered and referenced by Lightning, Mater, and the other cars.

Pretty much yeah. Pixar doesn't like acknowledging the majority of Cars 2 besides the World Grand Prix and I guess the dent being connected to Mater meant it was connected to the spy part of the movie (despite him getting it in Radiator Springs) and might've just took it out to ignore the film even more.

Cars 2 is about silly spy games splashed around a flimsy false premise. We don't see the story of Radiator Springs post-fame. We don't get more issues with Lightning McQueen and his lack of appreciation. Instead, it's like a totally different movie, like an Incredibles follow-up focusing on Jack-Jack's babysitter.

How on earth is this a DISNEY MOVIE? Generic and Hard to Follow Plot While Pixar has great simple plots that are unique in their own special way, Cars 2 has a boring and generic Spy plot that has a preachy message about being yourself. It is also confusing and boring most of the time.
After the Florida 500, it is unknown what happened to Jackson Storm as he was not seen after Cruz won or the end credits' pictures. It can be presumed that he still kept racing to try to beat Cruz but still lost to her in the end.

As Doc passed away after the events of Cars: Race-O-Rama and before Cars 2, he does not make a physical appearance in the film, but a newspaper with a picture of him on it can be seen inside of the Hudson Hornet Racing Museum, the building which used to be Doc's Clinic.
In Cars 3, Sally continues to be the love-interest of Lightning McQueen, and attends his races to show support. She is present when Lightning crashes while trying to keep up with the nextgens, and gives Lightning the inspiration to continue racing after he is rebuilt.
