Spider eventually rejects Quaritch's evil nature, but he still decides to save his father during a crucial moment. At the end of the film, Jake leaves an unconscious Quaritch to drown at the bottom of the sea. However, Spider rescues Quaritch and brings him to safety, saving his life.
During battle, Spider's mom is killed and Spider is too small to return to Earth in a cryopod. Therefore, Spider is left on Pandora and taken in by Jake and Neytiri.
Despite his intentions to destroy the Sully family and wipe out the Na'vi, Spider still saves Quaritch from certain doom, cementing him as a returning enemy in future Avatar films.
Paz Socorro is Spider's mom after a romantic relationship with Quaritch led to her getting pregnant. She gave birth to Spider, whose birth name is Miles (just like his father), in 2154. However, Paz Socorro died shortly after that in combat during Avatar's finale.
Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water villain, Colonel Miles Quaritch, fathered Miles/Spider before Quaritch died in the first movie's final battle for Pandora.

Who is Kiri's biological father?
Augustine's colleague Norm Spellman (Joel David Moore) was the father and Grace conceived Kiri before the end of Avatar before somehow giving birth in her Avatar body. However, the more interesting theory is that Kiri is literally the child of Eywa due to some sort of immaculate conception.
Spider was shown to have grown a strong bond with Kiri, with many speculating that there could be a potential future romance between the pair, while his tumultuous relationship with Neytiri came to a dramatic head in the final moments of The Way of Water's climactic battle.
It could be an immaculate conception. There's a theory that the film director James Cameron could be hiding a vital feature of the Na'vi. According to that theory, Na'vi could reproduce asexually. Unless that theory is true, Grace was impregnated by someone.
Left behind as a baby on Pandora, he was unable to return to Earth because he was too small to survive the journey. Now a teenager, he wears only a loincloth and paints blue stripes on his skin to look more like the native Na'vi.
Like his father, the teenage Lo'ak starts out as the reckless misfit who steps into a brave role for his family. Lo'ak is old enough in Pandora to be a warrior and seems to be about 13 or 14 years old in Avatar: The Way of the Water given the time gap between Avatar and its sequel.
He helped save Payakan from the whalers who just tagged him with a tracking device, intending to hunt him down and kill him. Neteyam removed the tracker and swam off with it on an ilu to lead the whalers away. He was shot at with sonar beacons, but he ultimately escaped unharmed. Neteyam killed by the bullet wound.
The Soul Tree is the heart of Eywa, the goddess that guides all of Pandora. Avatar: The Way of Water illustrates that Kiri has a special connection to Eywa, which means she can wield powers and feel her more deeply than other Na'vi.
Many people can't get over Spider's betrayal of the Sully family, especially after he swims back to them once getting Quaritch to dry land. He makes no move to tell the family of what he's done, most likely because Neytiri wouldn't spare him, but it's interesting to see how that will play out in the next Avatar.
In the construction of the Na'vi species, there are undeniable influences from Black and Indigenous cultures. Both films show Na'vi characters depicted wearing dreadlocks and braids, hairstyles with historical connections to Black and African cultures.
The relationship between Neytiri and Spider was developed well enough to justify what occurs in the third act of the film - this scene being where Neytiri has Spider by the throat with a knife in an effort to convince Quaritch to relinquish Kiri.
The sequel introduced us to the extended Sully family, but they'll be missing a member in the third movie, as Neteyam (Jamie Flatters) was shot and killed during The Way of Water's dramatic climax.
The first reason why Neteyam has four fingers while his siblings all have five fingers might be simple genetics. Since an avatar is a hybrid of Na'vi and human DNA, it's easy to imagine the genes that control the number of digits in the body competing with each other.
Kiri is the inquisitive and intelligent adopted daughter of Jake Sully and Neytiri. Not long after Grace Augustine's death, her dormant avatar was discovered to be pregnant, and Jake and Neytiri adopted the child when she was born.
Neteyam is the eldest child of Jake and Sully, and grew up with Spider. So, if Na'vi gestates for a similar period to humans, Neteyam is around fourteen years old. Lo'ak is the younger brother of Neteyam, but the two seem to be approximately the same age.
When Kiri, Lo'ak, and Spider go to Norm's lab to visit Grace's avatar, her two brothers joke around with the prospect of Norm being Kiri's possible father, citing the way he looks at Grace in some archival research footage. Since it's played off as a joke, Norm being Kiri's father seems pretty unlikely.
Though there were some theories about Kiri being a reincarnation of Grace, that isn't quite the case. Instead, Kiri's origins are a little more complicated. She was naturally conceived and born of Dr. Grace's Na'vi avatar, adopted by Jake and Neytiri, and raised in the rainforest.
The seizure is believed to have been caused by frontal lobe epilepsy which could also cause the other symptoms Kiri has been having, including visions and the belief that she's hearing Eywa. However, the Metkayina clan believe it's down to something more spiritual and is a result of Kiri's connection to Eywa.
Despite the mystery surrounding her conception, she is a naturally born Na'vi who was raised in the rainforests of Pandora. Her biological father, if she even has one, remains unknown. Because Grace had an avatar body, Kiri possesses human-like traits such as her eyebrows and five fingers on her hands.
Salmond (1975:182) describes how the whānau pani (also called pae mate or kiri mate) are the important mourners at a tangihanga. Mead (2003:138) writes: Members of the kiri mate are under the tapu of death and there are restrictions upon what they can or cannot do.
Earlier in the film, Kiri is diagnosed with epilepsy after having a seizure underwater while at the Soul Tree, and Jake tells her not to bond with it again. However, that does not mean she is barred from bonding with all living things.
