For other uses, see Mandalore (disambiguation). Mand'alor, rendered as Mandalore in Galactic Basic Standard, was the title assumed by the sole leader of the Mandalorian people. Their Protectors established a balance of control in the Mandalorians' warrior clan society.
In addition to being the leader of the Mandalorian people, the Mand'alor was the de facto leader of the planet Mandalore, the Mandalorian homeworld with which the title shared its Basic-translated name.

At the time of The Mandalorian story, it is pretty clear that Moff Gideon is not a Sith Lord even though he has the Darksaber in his possession nor does he have any links to the Jedi. In his prime, Anakin Skywalker could handily defeat any Mandalorian, including Din and Bo-Katan Kryze in many ways in single combat, from his lightsaber attacks to the Force itself. Din Djarin would also lose to Anakin in a space dogfight since Anakin was twice the pilot Din will ever be.
