Aurora, also known as Sleeping Beauty or Briar Rose, is a fictional character who appears in Walt Disney Productions' animated film Sleeping Beauty (1959). Originally voiced by singer Mary Costa, Aurora is the only child of King Stefan and Queen Leah.
Her actual name is Princess Aurora, but was given the name Briar Rose when she was living in hiding with the good fairies. Oddly enough, she was unnamed in Perrault's original tale, but did have a daughter named Aurore. The name Briar Rose was given to her by the Brothers Grimm.
In the original story written by the Grimm brothers in the 19th century, Sleeping Beauty was named Briar Rose. When Disney made a new version of the tale it was decided she would use both the names Aurora and Sleeping Beauty, although the three fairies refer to her as Briar Rose in order to conceal her identity.
Princess Aurora is the title character of the film. After Maleficent, an evil fairy curses her when she is only a baby, Aurora is taken to the woods by Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, where her name is changed to Briar Rose to conceal her identity from Maleficent.

A king who happens across the estate wanders in and finds the princess's sleeping body, fails to wake her and then proceeds to rape her. And if that's not bad enough, the princess later gives birth to twins while still unconscious — one of whom sucks the splinter from her finger and wakes her up.
Charles Perrault's moral at the end of "The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood" is that women should wait to find their love instead of rushing into it. They should take the time to find true love.
Walt Disney was excited about Sleeping Beauty. He envisioned it as his masterpiece. It took almost a decade to produce, and the process cost six million dollars, making it the most expensive Disney animated film yet.

Cinderella's mother dies and then her father marries her evil stepmother, adding her and Cinderella's evil stepsisters to the family. Lucky for Cinderella, her father doesn't die.
In Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Snow White meets a handsome prince after he overhears her singing in the woods. When she's poisoned by her evil stepmother, the Prince comes along and kisses her to wake her up. Snow White was thought to be 14 in the film, and the Prince was 31.
