Echoes is a mystery thriller about a set of identical twins. Gina and Leni have a deep dark secret: ever since childhood they've secretly switched lives. But this is no Parent Trap, there's no peanut butter Oreos and cute anecdotes in this story. Gina and Leni swapped back and forth into adulthood.
For most of the series, we're led to believe that Leni was the missing twin, but towards the end, we discover that it was actually Gina pretending to be Leni. Classic twinnery. It turns out that Gina was trying to escape Leni's control, but are either of them really "good" people?
Overall, being only 7 episodes, I would recommend it for someone who has Netflix and is looking for something to get into requiring minimal commitment. It is a good thing it isn't any longer of a series though, because this show would definitely prove that too much can be a very bad thing.

Eventually the audience learns the truth: The missing Leni is actually Gina, who ran away to escape the real Leni's hold on both their lives and find happiness with an old flame, Dylan (Jonathan Tucker).
Jack eventually married Leni, but it wasn't until close to the end of the series that he found out he had been in a relationship with both of the women throughout his entire youth and eventual marriage.
Leni is the one who set fire to the church because she was jealous of Gina's relationship with Dylan; Leni is the one who murdered Dylan so that Gina couldn't run away.
She also discovered that her husband Charlie had known all along about her and Leni switching lives, and had been writing about it. This led to Gina feeling betrayed by her sister and her husband as she began her year in Mount Echo. Then came a chance encounter with Dylan…
What happens at the end of 'Echoes'? We soon discover that Gina's disappearance was an attempt to escape Leni and the life swap they originally agreed to do. Gina is convinced that Leni is trying to control her life, and she hopes to start a new life in LA.
Leni and Jack's daughter Mattie is played by Gable Swanlund, who has previously appeared in “Modern Family,” “Never Have I Ever” and “General Hospital.” She also recently played Nancy on “The Shrink Next Door.”
In reality, though, the missing twin is actually Gina, who was pretending to be Leni. Gina was trying to escape the twisted situation Leni put her in. From a very early age, Leni controlled Gina's life, telling her twin that they had to switch places to avoid being caught when things went wrong.
Feeling betrayed and disgusted, Jack told Leni to leave and never return, warning her off ever contacting their daughter Mattie again. After Leni first gave birth to Mattie, and developed postpartum depression, Gina insisted on getting her sister a nanny, to give her sister time to heal and to protect the baby girl.
It was actually Leni whose bad behavior gave Gina a reputation as a juvenile delinquent–turned–big-city career woman, and Gina's nurturing nature that transformed Leni into a caring, kindhearted mother.
We discover that Gina, the twin we've been keeping up with, is actually the real Leni, and the women switch places every year on their birthday, which further complicates things.
On the contrary, Leni and Charlie's heart-to-heart had them reveal that they loved each other, potentially opening the door to a relationship between Leni and Charlie without Gina involved.
The situation comes to a head at the waterfall in Mount Echo, which Gina throws herself off when it becomes apparent she'll never be able to lead the life she wants as long as Leni is around.
What Happens in Echoes After Gina Realizes Leni Has Run Away? After realizing that Leni is alive and well, Gina is then forced to play both sisters, switching between the two as she works her way around the town, trying to work out what Leni is up to.
The potential of Echoes starts to drain before the premiere is even over as it gets goofier and goofier in a way that's not entertaining but frustrating. Content collapsed. There's a lot happening in Echoes, and part of the reason is that the show overcomplicates itself with a premise that is meant to be mysterious.
